I have 2+ years on my fuelab with no failures. Every now and then it will act up and blow a fuse when starting the truck, but that's it. Replace the fuse, and keep going.

I do carry a used a1000 under the back seat as a spare, just in case...

I have 4 or 5 years on a a1000 but I dont put a lot of miles on it. I also used conveyor belt under mine when I mounted it.

Fuelab recently changed the design of the circuit board to resolve some problems. Almost every single pump we've ever had to send in for warranty was due to a board problem, not a pump problem. I've only had one pump with a problem in the pump section, and it turned out to be a foreigh object lodged in the pump vanes...pump ran after it was removed.

Send in the ones you've got and get them fixed, the new boards have additional protection against the failures they've been having.

Any way to identify the pumps with the old boards?

I'm going to get them fixed this week. However I already placed an order for an aeromotive fuel pump too. I want quality and imo quality is reliability, and performance thats all I ask for.
