First picture:drivers side battery terminal. Tinned, cast copper. No cable exposed. Red is the glue-backed shrinkwrap.
Second photo: I chose to use a flag here. I removed the "y" from the solenoid(pass side fender) and secure it to the lug on the flag with a 3/8 cast, tinned, hydraulically crimped, ring terminal. Keeping these separate allows you to rebuild/remove the power portion of the cables without messing with the solenoid. I placed the old, poured lead terminal above for reference to what the flag replaced.
Picture#3: The parts guy fabricated the cables attempting to mimic the stock one for location of terminals. As a nice touch, he removed this rubber-isolated hanger and was able to re-crimp the steel hanger back on. It'll bolt right onto the ground lug on the pass side of the motor.
Picture#4:The one Achilles heel! The terminal that goes on the lug on the starter has an open end. I can fill this with epoxy or even heat the terminal and draw solder into the end of the grain of the cable. This is where corrosion usually takes hold. Im thinking a two-part epoxy put on with a small knife will work well.

Looks nice. My cable is going bad at the DS battery.

Yea, already had that issue. I cut mine and put a different terminal on it. It was still.fine.there.but corrosion and cutting had left mine unuseable at the starter. I too looked into the custom battery cables.com guy and this is the same stuff he would use. He has upgrade options available but after some research 2/0.cable is plenty for me. I dont operate in extremely cold climates and my gp system is always operating efficiently so I dont.crank long or hard.

Update: installed my new cables tonight. Took my oreilly starter in Sunday and it tested bad. Got a new one. Put it on tonight and wanted to turn the motor over to make sure there is no oil in the.cylinders. Starter just spins...so either the solenoid is bad or the starter itself is junk. My money is on the "new" starter. Fwiw, the one I took off was installed in July of 2011. It has 8k miles on it. Junk!

Id shy away from these "lifetime" pos wherever you go. Not worth the hassle.

Yea, man, love the cables. I need to come up with.something for that "Y" that attaches to the posts on the solenoid(pass side fenderwell).

Im totally over this bs with starters. Im not sure if I should take it.back, take it to the auto electric place, or buy a mean green? Its supposedly new so I "think" it would be.decent enough to use for the local.guy to rebuild. Im thinking the solenoid(bendix) is crap.
