have heard it said, that you can take the "auto" lock out out, replace it with a manual lock out.

take the vacuum line out, replace it with a grease zerk, and grease the "ungreaseable" hub bearings via the new zerk.

regardless, i got stuck in my pasture, on a almost flat surface facing slightly up hill, in wet grass, because the front end did not auto lock itself in.

nothing pisses me off more than expecting something to work, and it not doin it when i need it to. it would be a totally different thing, if i had already known i needed to get out to lock the front end in, like my previous truck.

auto coming out, manual goin it.

my luck, it'll only engage half way next time, and shell completely or something.

the only aftermarket hub replacement for the OEM unit you will find for these trucks 05 up replaces the unit bearing also and is super expensive

on a side note the OEM's are made by Warn and I think the reason you can't get a aftermarket from Warn is a not to compete issue since they sell the OEM to Ford and the design is the same since 05 .

and no putting a zerk in the vaccum port won't grease the unit bearing at all that is done through the ABS port .

the ESOF hubs aren't that bad but you need to check them for functionality every once in a while ,, maybe through a seal in here or there ,, now and then ,, worst case is they are also manual hubs so your getting out to lock em in just like if you went full manual

ok, then unlock them when you don't want them locked in...

why replace them with manual ones? If the auto function isn't working, just use them manually

agreed ,, if it were simple matter of just upgrading hubs to a stronger unit for those who brake the stockers I could see that .. but on the 05 up it is a boatload of cash

for the conversion

yeah, I had Dynatracs on my '04 Dodge. they're nice, but not worth the cost IMO

I had bad hubs in my '08 and I thought about just putting manual hubs in it, but decided to just stick w/ the vacuum hubs. I can always manually lock them in if I need to
