Recently the truck has been lacking power and my mileage is horrible. Driving above 45mph feels like I’m driving into a 50mph head wind towing a trailer. I’ve done some searching and I can’t figure it out. Recently I drove from Columbus, GA to Atlanta Airport (103 miles each way) all highway and my mileage is down to 11mpg keeping it at 65. Normally I would get 17-18mpg. My idle is a little rougher and I feel a slight hesitation/skip when parked. Other people don’t hear it or feel it, I get the “ it’s a diesel, they all are that rough”. I’ve had this truck for 10 years, I know how it’s supposed to sound.
For some background info; the truck is a 2000 with 275k, 3.73 gears, 265/70/17 Mickey Thompson MTZs, 4” exhaust, original transmission, and is back to STOCK Programing.
I’ve already checked the brakes to see if they are dragging, pressure tested the cac system. Checked the trans for slipping through Auto Enginuity and I haven’t found anything.
So today I collected some data through my Edge Insight and this is what I have.
Idle in park:
EGT: 350*
ICP: 480 psi
IPR: 10.2%
0-50mph holding at 2,000 RPM
MAP: 4-5 psi
EGT: 770-800*
ICP: 1800-1900 psi
IPR: 28-29%
60 MPH constant:
MAP: 2-3 psi
EGT: 600*
ICP: 1330-1340 psi
IPR: 22.3%
0-60 foot to the floor:
Max MAP: 14 psi
Max EGT: 1100*
Max ICP: 2800 psi
Max IPR: 39.6%
I’m trying to find out if these #s look normal. What are the baseline #s for ICP and IPR? As soon as I get some time I’ll log some data with AE. But what else should I be looking at?
