The pcm is behind the e brake, its what the chip plugs into. IDM is a silver box under the hood. You have to pull the inner finder to remove the pcm but can change chips from behind the e brake.

I did a zf5 swap and kept my auto pcm because of the chip, it works great but you cant use a manual pcm in a auto.

Okay, mine is a silver box then cause that's what my chip is plugged into. When I got the truck it had one sitting on the inner fender well and one sitting in the firewall, the one in the firewall didn't work at all and the one laying on the fender well let it start up and run but not shift like stated above

And carquest sells them for like 140 to 200 depending on which one you get but I'm going to take my vin to ford tomorrow to see if they can back track and see what it had on it and then cross reference to car quests system.

Where is the PCM located on the truck? I think I'm getting computers mixed up, the IDM is the little silver box a six pos chip plugs into right? Where is the other computer? I need to get this figured out quick since I leave for Ohio next Friday

Someone must have rewired and moved it. I think as long as you get a tde1 pcm you should be ok. Thats what my 96 has, my 95 has a tee4 pcm but some say they don't shift as well as the tde1. Don't take that as the gospel maybe someone else will chime in, but I'm pretty sure thats all you need.

engineering part# f7tf-12a650-tb service part# f7tz-12a650-tb is the latest ford part, the most important number is DPC-202 if you find a pcm with this hardware it should work.
try this website with a junkyard locator www.car-part.com

Okay, I'll look around. I know of a junkyard close to me that has a few around the nation and can ship parts from those other places so I'm going to try them. I'll give them those numbers. Thank you so much for the help guys. I appreciate it

Picked one up out of a 96 and it works! She runs a lot better, before it would have a knocking noise at idle and it would lope after start up until you rev it up but now it runs smooth and clean

I run a TEE4 in mine & I can't stand the stock shift pattern. Many tuners use a TDE1 shift pattern in their tuning. If I had to drive mine un tuned I'd be looking for a TDE1 PCM for better shift patterns.

I know what you mean. My 95 downshifts way more than the 96 did, even tuned the TEE4 didnt seem as good as the TDE1. It never really seemed to pull hard because of the downshifts.

Op glad you got it going!!!

dpc-202 is just the hardware inside of the computer and the engineering number may be different now if the computer has been updated and the latest flash will make it f7tz-12a650-tb taking it from 215hp to 225hp and enables the EOT (engine oil tempature) pid for technician viewing during diagnostics.

I'm glad i was able to help! and you are welcome
