Is Motorcraft best? Any one using something different?

Friend of mine is running Redline in his, seems to work pretty good.

If it's cold out, you may want to run an ATF in there, I believe there was a TSB for it but cannot remember the number off hand.

Not much info on the subject. I know they have always called for Mercon 5 but in 2008 they switched to the full synthetic gear oil. Some say that was a typo in the owners manual and could cause dammage. Looking for some clarity!

Called my local dealer they recomended Mercon V. Going to change the fluid this weekend.
