After I get my system dialed in I would like to upgrade controllers to something that I could use in "stages". I did however find a place today where I can buy straight methanol for $4.80 a gallon.

Using washer fluid can add contaminates to your oil. I like the idea of distilled water and HEET.

in what way? When it hits the cylinder most of it is probably steam and the rest of it would more than likely be burned. what would be left over from that that will get into the oil?

I used straight water all the way home today, 640 miles.. didn't see much drop in mpg's or performance. will probably stay with H2O for trips and save the 50/50 for the track.

A guy on the nation did a oil analysis after using washer fluid and had "stuff" in it. Switched to distilled water then went down. "His"results.

Ok, what kinda "stuff"? I'm not doubting you, I know you can get silicates in your oil from a faulty air filter so it stands to reason that a shot of washer fluid could show up. There are several variables though, like how long his oil change intervals are, what kinda oil he's using, what kind of mix he was injecting, how much he was injecting and how often he was injecting.

So you guys are saying you would run only distilled water? I'm gonna be running water and methanol mixed to 50/50.

I've always been running winter blend washer fluid and it's been working awesome with great power. However, i wouldn't mind finding some methanol and doing my own mix. I wouldn't go 50/50 tho...i'd probably do a 60/40 or 70/30 first and see how it compares to the washer fluid. I just gotta find a place where i can get the methanol from now.

I do now. The winter blend is $2 a gallon if you find it cheaply. On the road I saw it around $3.50 a gallon. Same price as diesel.

I didn’t get a big MPG bump using winter blend, so on my way home I filled it with water. Went through 7 gallons in 650 miles. I did have it spraying more than is suggested but I was pulling a lot of hills and running about 80 MPH. I wanted to see if it kept EGT's down in comparison to winter blend.

I still felt the smoothness of winter blend but it was far cheaper.

I will drain it and run 50/50 at the track though. You do feel more power when using methanol for sure, but you do get benefits from straight water.

I found it for $4.80 a gallon fairly close to home.

Winter blend washer fluid here in NY is way less than $2 a gallon. I've ran straight water back when i first installed the system(6 years ago)...and i noticed no power gain from it. This was when i switched to washer fluid. As cheap as the washer fluid is compared to the methanol...and it being far easier to get, i'm just gonna stick to winter blend washer fluid. It's been running great for 6 years with the washer fluid so i see no need to switch for me to something that gonna be way more expensive to run.

good choice! i have a new engine now from mixing a 50/50 mixture, i wouldnt run anymore than a 30% meth mixture. a 50/50 mix is a flamable soultion, its like spraying gas in your intake. if you ever mix make sure its under 50% meth!!
