Hey Guys, first post so here goes. I have a 08 6.4 f250 reg cab LB 2wd XL. (all I could afford) Lol. I have 78K and been tuned since 50K. I have an HandS xrt pro. I have run it on the mild NO POWER mode since installed. Now for my issue, I have noticed lately that I am getting a slight shudder between 45mph and 49mph just before it shifts into 5th gear at 49-50mph. At no other time or gear does this happen. My ford mech told me to put a bottle of the LUCAS NO SLIP for transmissions. It did help about 50% of the issue. I have also been recomended to install a Modified direct clutch solinoid to completly resolve my issue. What do you guys think? I do not have the money that some of you guys on here have and I need the cheapest fix I can get. I am 42 years old and in school for a new career due to job losses in my area so money is very tight. I do not run my truck hard or anything, I only tow about 10K lbs with it.. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post, Will

Even though it only has done it a few times its going to fail? I was hopeing these trannys were better than my old 4r100, I always got atleast 130K out of them. If it goes out I am screwed, it is all I got and with less than 80K I thought I would have several more years of trouble free service. I never hotrod it or anything like that. its my DD.

They are better than the 4R100 in stock trim, but if the trans has been abused then there is nothing cheap thats going to stop it. It will just get worse over time.

I'm just saying that if it has damaged itself it will not heal itself. If will never just get better, only worse. It's just a fact of life with mechanical parts. It may last a 100k you'll never know unless you try. I've seen these 5r's last over 500k before. I've never seen one 4r do that. The 5r is IMO way better than a 4r.

Run it till it dies. It will last as long as it can. It may not be really that bad. I've seen some that slip really bad under big power last for quite a while by just de-tuning and not abusing any further.

Thanks guys, as said I have never beat on it or even spun the tires, or reved it up even. It is my daily driver and I drive like a grandpa. The only thing I do is tow my travel trailer and its less than 10K lbs and I do not tow it much at all.PS the only tune I run or have ever run is the no power tune. its about the same as stock.

Any of the vendors here have the modified solinoid in stock? I am going to do that and change the fluid and filter and hope for the best. Btw what was the previous poster saying is wearing out the TC or the tranny. Thanks guys, Will
