Moving from Nitto Terra 325/50R22 to Ridge 37x12.50R22

Well crap. I really like the idea of the 37" and I think they'll fit, but I'm hearing you. Maybe after the first trip or two I'll look for some 20s to mount smaller tires on. The 22" x 35" Ridge just doesn't have the weight rating. NO clue why, but is what it is. Almost like it's a typo.
My gears are 3.55s
Again, I don't think I'll be doing this hauling thing long term, just a short way to pull down a few bucks, hauling RVs and Boats. I know it's not a great solution, but it's something proactive. Otherwise I'm just sitting around w/ my thumb up my butt watching the bills pile up. That's no good either.
Thought about doing landscaping too. I have 4 acres and have all the toys needed to do landscaping, but not real sure how to bust into the biz. There's a gazillion of them out there, I can only imagine the competition is pretty tight.

fyi: I ran the '12 before the UE bumper and after, no discernable difference in mileage.

I think that's a wise choice. Heresay and crap you hear on forums can only get you so far.

When I bought my truck 4.5 years ago it came with the Nitto 37x22x13.50, about 1/3rd life left. Since then I've had two more sets. I just purchased my second set about 8k miles ago. Being it's a 22' rim the sidewalls aren't near as tall as the 35's on a 20' rim, which is good for strength. I'm about 65/35 towing, but when I do tow its around 14k. My last set lasted 55k miles @ 65psi with mixed highway & oil field road driving. These are just my observations. Obviously if you are trying to make money hauling smaller is better.

Well, not sure how my mileage can get any worse. Discount tire fitted one on the front and it fits and looks fantastic. They r doing the rest now...

Yea, I know the bug deflector is fugly, but after catching a rock across my hood and into the windshield I thought I'd try it. Doubt it'll grow on me.

I have them on my X. I made a mistake and got too wide a rim and they still rub. I went down from 35/12.5 to these 295/60/20.
I like them a lot. I wouldn't mind a smoother tire but they are still a great In between.

Well, after 800 miles I'm going back to the TG2. The truck just isn't stable at speed w/ these tires. They 'boat' like crazy. I had to slow way down coming down I40 thru the pass for fear of the tail end sliding out from under me.
Good news is that Discount Tire is taking care of it, no charge, even being way out of town and away from the DT I bought from.
I liked the look, they were quiet, they rode nicely and fit the truck. I experienced zero loss of mileage too - hand calc and apply a correction factor to the miles. No noticeable loss of power either.
I think they fill the wheel wells perfectly. But they handle very poorly at speed. Even passing a semi I had to correct. The TG2s are very stable, but the Ridges were absolutely not stable.
DT's salesman up here said it's because of the speed rating that they are doing this. IDK, but am not going to keep them. Sad, love the look.

I think you would be pleasently surprised if you went with a Toyo a/t. They are more stable towing than the terras

Specs on the 325/50/R22 are actually not as good as the Terra, it's speed rating is an R rate tire instead of S. The speed rating is what DT is saying is causing the 'boating' Everything else is spec comparable to the Terra

yes i absolutely have run them one after another. The toyo was stiffer and handled better with a trailer as well as yielded a longer tread life. However they were ever so slightly louder.
on edit: i ran 285 width in each, not 325. Doubt that makes much of a difference tho.

I noticed on my Toyos that they would what I refer to as sidewall walk. But after you got some miles on them they quit.

I guess I'd just call it a very loose feeling in the back of the truck.
As it turns out, Discount Tire will !NOT! replace the tires. They say that the TG2 does not have enough weight rating for an F350. My statement that I'm not so stupid to overload my tires got nowhere and there is no other tire which fits a 22" wheel and is capable of the weight rating of an F350.
Whatever.
I did notice that when I checked the tires in Knoxville and found them to be inflated to 95psi, I dropped them to 70psi they seemed better.
So while sitting at Discount Tire I made them call Nitto and get a load chart for these tires.
Dropped them to 60psi and it's better. Went to the CAT scales (truck is a pig at 9800lbs w/ a full tank of fuel) and by the weight of the vehicle and the load chart I could drop them another 10 psi and still be safe.
Likely my mileage would suffer as well and it's already pretty horrible at 14.5mpg (corrected by 5% for the larger radius) running empty at highway speeds.
Makes no sense to me that dropping psi makes the tire perform better in the corners and sway, but it's hard to argue with what's happening.

Tell them to get you into another brand tire that does match the rating.

that's the problem, there is none in a 22" wheel unless I go up to a 38"-40", the 37" barely fits and I don't want a M/T
What I have is what I got and I just have to live with it.
It's better now that I've aired it down some and other than the squirmy feeling I do like them quite a bit.
