My dad wants to buy 2x 2002 F550s...How to convince him to get a 6.7?

My father is thinking of buying 2x F550 flatbeds w/ 180kmi on them.

I know, I think he's crazy too, get a 6.7 I said.

What problems are these known to have?

I know they have the 7.3 which seems to be pretty popular. Are they OK stock.

He lives in Illinois...emissions testing?

Any advise you can offer and help me convince him to go with a 6.7? Most appreciated.

Why is he wanting to buy two of them? That would be the biggest question I would have. If he needs to for business purposes or to haul multiple trailers at the same time, it makes sense as opposed to only getting one higher-priced 6.7.

That's fairly low miles for 16 year old vehicles. again it 100% depends on what the uses are for the two pickups. There is no reason to spend a bunch of money on a newer one if he needs two, and the lower mileage 7.3s will do it for less money.

Depending on maintenance they may need injectors now or 100,000 miles from now. A set is probly around $1000. Cam position sensors go out sometimes. They can leak oil sometimes. If they've been ran without any filter changes or no filters they could have compression problems. I don't know if illnoise does emissions testing or not. The trans aren't known for being amazing. One advantage the 7.3 has is no emissions system to malfunction and slow you down to 5 mph along with whatever bill goes with it. As others said the price is probly what makes the biggest difference.
