Put a couple more zeros on there and you will be able to grandpa that thing to 20 on the highway. I ran from Portland to Seattle averaging 70 and put down a hand calculated 20.2.

I know that stretch, it's not flat, so to get 20.2 on that terrain is saying something. So like everyone's saying, just wait, they suck at first but they even out. And sorry for the thread drama! :p

And Mikey, same, it actually got more accurate with the d3lete and bigger tires, was always .5 off before, lol. See?! The trucks themselves want to be ******d and lifted! Someone get me the president...

At any rate...

Fuel mileage is starting to creep a bit. With approx. 350 miles on the odometer, Im seeing about 14.8-9 on the lie-o-meter with mixed driving, spirited and mellow. So it IS creeping. If it ever gets to 17 mix driving, I will probably just keep it stock. That being said, I have hopes of 20 on the freeway.

It gets worse as you put more miles. Never understood why.

get the crappy motorcraft oil out of there and put in a good 5-40 synthetic and it will improve 1 to 1.5 mpg.. i noticed that right away when i bought my 12.. i knkw the newer trucks dont get what the 12s get but i can set the cruise at the speed limit and as long as its not windy get dam mear 22mpg.. set the cruise at 90mph (across canada) and im 17.5-18mpg... hauling i get 9-10 mpg... but then again, running 85mph with my dually on the gooseneck doesnt help...

Only thing i can think of. I used to get 15.5 mpg in town mixed 50/50 and now I get 13.

Older trucks get 16 easy.....

What else changed?

I do know, the regens are different compared to the older trucks.

I get mid 15 and run mostly interstate on a daily basis with cruise on at 74. It is what it is.

I'm getting 16mpg combined driving with 35's and a leveling kit. Hoping that goes up after the parts magically fall off.

So is it everybody's opinion that a tuner with EGR enabled and all exhaust ornaments in tact, wont help enough with performance and mileage to justify buying? Most likely a tune from Matt at ********.

This is what I am thinking it is.
My brother has an 11 F250 with 3.55's.
My 16 F350 dually with 3.73's showed up the other day.
His truck feels like it has less lag than mine.

It does. An '11 F-250 uses the dual-boost Garrett GT32 turbo; it has dual inlets and dual compressor wheels. One compressor is smaller to reduce lag, while the other is larger and provides boost under heavy loads/high RPM. This design was specifically chosen for the new (2011) 6.7 diesel due to it's near instantaneous response.

The 2015+ turbo is a single compressor Garrett GT37. It produces more power and torque at higher load and engine speeds. One of the main issues with the GT32 was that it would run out of steam at high elevations; the GT37 remedies that. The only downside is more lag in the lower RPMs, the upside is better reliability and more peak power/torque output.
