Yeah, I'll be pulling the HPOP out. I learned it is MUCH easier to work on something on a bench if you can than trying to in the vehicle.

Got the fuel bowl out, currently working on getting the hpop drained, then figuring out if I have anything that can get the two HP oil hose aeroquip fittings off.

Turns out...guzzle is about an hour and a half from me :pimp:

I'll get my order in this weekend so I can get the truck back together first thing this week.

So, since I don't have it out, its not 100% certain what it leaking I'm assuming. While I have to HPOP and fuel bowl out...what all is worth replacing?

I'm guessing:
1.) #8-002EX EXTENDED HPOP O-RING KIT WITH FULL HOSE FITTING REPAIR KITS
2.) New mounting Gasket
3.) #8-007 SERVICEABLE REPLACEMENT HPOP PLUG (If needed)

As far as a "while its out":
1.) #7-003 FUEL BOWL RESEAL KIT 1999-2003

I've also got the Riff Raff Fuel and Oil crossovers sitting on a shelf. I'm going to take a wild guess and say now (i.e. when putting it all back together)...might be the time to go ahead and throw them in...

Got the HPOP out.

Though looking it over...there's nothing "discernable" to tell me what was leaking. Gasket looked fine, so I would probably rule it out.

You really should change out that gasket (hpop to engine) no matter how good it looks. Also you have the HPOP out I would change a few other things just to be safe and hopefully take care of the leak issue. It likely is coming from one of the following:

IPR o-ring

One of the discharge outlet fittings o-rings

Nonserviceable plug

I would at least change out the IPR o-ring and the HPOP gasket.

If it were me I would personally freshen it all up and replace the non-serviceable plug and swap out the orings in the discharge fittings. For under $100 you would know everything is taken care of. But I do understand some people do not want to spend money unless that have to. But anything under $100 in the diesel world is cheap in my experience almost like there is a unwritten rule.

Oh believe me, the gasket will be getting replaced.

I was pretty much just planning on replacing everything, that way I know it should be good for me for a long while. $100 to go through the HPOP completely and seals for the Fuel Bowl isn't much at all.

Right now i'm trying to discern from ordering the o-rings off ebay (racecolo) or from dieselorings.com. Both are in CO, and both have kits that are basically the same..but the ebay one is cheaper (though same viton o-rings).

I would go with Guzzle's (diselorings) as he has been around for a LONGGGGG time and has helped many people with the info he put up on his page long before he ever sold these things. I can nothink of any complaint I have heard about him and quite the opposite.

Yeah I just went ahead and went with Bob. Never heard a bad thing about him and I know 100% it will work.

Ordered:
#7-003 Fuel Bowl Reseal Kit 1999-2003

#13-007 HPOP Reservoir Replacement / Fuel Bowl Pressure Port Plug

#8-002ex Extended HPOP O-ring kit with Full hose fitting repair kits

#8-007 Serviceable Replacement HPOP Plug

#8-009 HPOP Engine Mounting Gasket 94.5-03

Figured all this should get me back to a sealed system, and even better than I was before.

I ended up tearing some of the rubber on one of the HPOP lines. I've heard the lines can and do fail. So, I'm going to see if any of the local hydraulic places can whip me up two lines for cheaper than the near $200 they run (which is absurd for what those lines are). I'd just keep the ones I have now in the toolbox "in case".

One positive I guess to come out of this, I'll get to get the spider, HPOP, fuel bowl, and other things nice and super clean (they could really use it). As well i'll get my HPx and FRx installed.

Thanks everyone for the help...got back up and running yesterday.

When I do things like this...I tend to snowball into doing more.

I went ahead and did the full HPOP reseal kit from Guzzle, no more leaks. The "non" serviceable plug has/had me a little worried. I used an oxy/act torch to heat the area up to the 4-500 degree to get the loctite to give up. It came out easily and the threads looked fine inside. The new plug didn't go in the easiest (i.e. by hand). It was pegging past the 75 in-lbs on my bar torque wrench just going in (but nothing that felt like I would be stripping threads at all). So I used a 3/8" drive, and light hand tightened it up until the shoulder hit the base like it should.

Other things I did while I had it apart:

- Full Fuel Bowl Reseal and filter from Guzzle (good thing I got to do this, my fuel filter was dark grey with crap :lookaround:)

- New HPOP lines from Guzzle (gat damn lines are expensive, and none of my local hydraulic shop could get me anything without going to JIC fittings)

- New glow plugs (been needing to do these a while)

- Foil delete: not because I want more sound, but since the foil was dirty and had seen some better days. That stuff was a b*tch to remove. Sanded it with some 500 grit after.

- RiffRaff FRx and HPx (had them sitting around waiting)

- CCV mod

- 50 cent mod

- Cleaned the EBPV sensor and tube out real well. At first I couldn't even get a weed whacker wire through it, it was that gummed up. So hopefully have a cleared up tube and sensor should help a little.

- Cleaned the ever living HELL out of everything. Everything that came off/out got a thorough cleaning and scrub down until it looked damn near new. I'm OCD about this kind of stuff.

I've still got to actually drive it around to purge the air out of the oil system. But other than that I should be good to go! I'll still check like a hawk to make sure all seals are still holding. I'm a LOT more knowledgeable about the truck now which is nice (i'm a Mech Eng).

Thanks again everyone!

Oh, and I will say I'm a little spoiled since Guzzle is only about an hour and a half away. It's nice to make an order and it be there the next day (considering I ended up making more than one order). :D
