need help with a trany problem

ok i am new to this i just got a 96 f-250 and it will not shift if i have it in drive it stays in first gear if i manually shift it to second gear it will shift to second but when i put it back in drive it goes right back to first gear i have replaced the trany and pcm and checked the wires to the trany and cant find anything that looks wrong any ideas would be helpful thanks

I would look into the mlps or (neutral safety switch)
Sometimes water can get into connector and cause problems like that. It's located on the drivers side of trans and hooks into shift cable. Is the o/d light flashing by any chance? Do you have access to a scanner?

i have replaced the neutral safety switch and the o/d light is not flashing i might be able to get a scanner just dont know what to check with it

Check for codes. Also, check that the scanner is showing engine RPM and vehicle speed.

thanks for the help guy got a scanner today and found the neutral safety switch i got was bad put a new one on and it is working great
