Yeah they're expensive but I think it's worth it to have something that nice.

I don't know why anyone would pay for a truck if they didn't need one. I buy them out of necessity so they cost what the cost...

I mean with the my ford touch it will control your iPod. Download music play movies and all sorts of other things.... Eff buying a house when you buy a truck that has all the comforts of home!!!

Lol. I buy a truck because I use it. I pull trailers and haul stuff most of the the I'm in it. Doesn't mean I can have a nice one to do that with. Then it's not so bad driving it when your not using it for a truck. Some people think that you have to own a car and a truck because trucks are only meant for work. I guess that means you should own multiple vehicles to save money? Nah. I'm not that way. When I wanna be economical, I get in my 02 supercrew fx4 with a 4.6..... Sips fuel.... Totally paid for!

I bought an 02, 03 and 05 and they worked there ass's off, I had no problem spending more money on them then my dad paid for his house because I was making money with them..

I think truck prices are geared towards people working them and paying for them with what the truck does.. The average joe with a mortgage, a couple of kids making 80 grand a year can't afford to buy a fancy new 6.7 with a crew cab to cruise around town, IMO, pickup truck manufactures are limiting there audience to people that are going to make money with them plain and simple..

No matter how you slice it, they have raised the prices out of reach for people that just want to drive one and that's going to hurt them, maybe not this year or next but the sh!t will hit the fan no doudt about it and it will be there own doing when it does..

Depends on "Joe's" priorities, at 80k a year, he's bringing home roughly 5k a month. He can buy a new Lariat or Platinum on that salary. Even if the wife don't work. Per month he's got:
$1,000.00 to daycare
$1500.00 to mortgage
$100.00 to truck insurance
$1,000.00 to credit card(gas, groceries, misc)
$900.00 to truck payment(that's 50k truck 5-6 years depending on interest rate)
$300.00 to electric bill
$200.00 to gas and water.

Joe is broke now. Unless his kids are too old for daycare, then Joe has an extra grand a month to blow.

I get what you are saying to a point, but at the same time, 80k a year is pretty dam decent money. Now if Joe was only pulling in 50k a year, he better stick with his 300 month truck payment or less.

I was think about taking the dive on a 15 until today at work when an old man pulled up in an 06 6.0 king ranch with 465000 miles on it. Completely changed my mind.

That he's spent 300k dollars on to keep it running.

Jk but seriously

80K is a decent paycheck but not a huge amount of money really.. Here lies the problem with your calculations.. Retirement, it's overlooked and is the MOST important investment you can make, if you don't contribute a good amount of money towards some kind of retirement you will wish you did..

If that 60k truck makes you 150k then its not a big deal. Especially for folks who own their own businesses, if your successful and have a good accountant, that 60k truck is written off as a business expense so while your paying 60k for it, your writing it off at the same time.

So if my truck doesn't make money it's not justifiable to buy? So if I wanted to go out tomorrow and buy a $60k truck, not insure it, and burn it just for fun, it would be a big deal?
