need some help here guys, currently running a single 467, stock fuel. only other thing done to my truck is a built trans but a stock stall converter. truck runs great, but of course lags a bit and has alot of smoke, all the time and especially when you go to get on it of course. question is, do i spend the cash and go 2200 stall converter? will they truly help my setup that much where it wont lag as much? or should i just down size chargers due to stock fuel and looking for a little less smoke and lag. thanks

its a triple disc but only 1900 stall i believe. i built the entire trans with suncoast parts, but my builder said he used my stock converter, sent it out and built it. i didnt know alot at the time

Depending on what converter you have, you should be able to get the stall changed once for free.

if i knew what i did now, i woulda went with a legit company on my converter. now it bites me in the ass. i cant build boost in a good amount of time, takes awhile, most of the time it just fogs out and wont light. enless i start rolling etc to light it... tried many different tunes, the ones that smoke less are a dog obviously and the good ones smoke like crazy lol. currently im in a happy middle of the road tune with smoke. when it lights its great. but im starting to think its just too big. enless stall speed really improves the setup, id go DPC converter and keep the charger instead of downsizing

Bump the stall. There's a chance even a smaller charger wouldn't light well with the one you have. I had a tight converter with the s366 on my 6.0 and it choked the hell out of the charger and made it smokey.

Fwiw sometimes even if a company advertises "1900" stall it doesn't effectively stall at that rpm depending on your setup. It takes a company that really understands your setup to properly set a stall up for your truck.

thanks for the tip. ive ran an s300 for a month wayy back, and to be honest it didnt seem to spool any quicker and it did smoke decent. maybe not as much but i cant recall what it did for boosting dead stop. what comapny should i go with? i hear DPC is top notch? and i should go 2200 stall correct? from what ive been reading etc..

I would go dpc, 2200. I've had guys tell me they went from an s366 to an s467 or s471 and said the spool up wasn't as big of a difference as they thought it would be.

A 1900 stall would be nice for an s363 or s365 but I doubt you want to downsize that much.

no, for sure not going that small lol. hopefully the 2200 puts me where id like to be. from what i read thats the ticket i guess. (dont know much on converters) but ive read people go from a 2200 back to the 1800 due to a failure or etc.. and say the trucks a dog again. so obviously converter stall is huge running the single.. thanks for the help
