Hi guys new here from mn, I have an 08 powerstroke, it's deleted chipped intake and exhaust. I'm having some smoking issues when I let off the throttle, it's oil smoke, today I removed my air cleaner assembly and it's all soothed up again, the low pressure compressor wheel is sooty and there's a lot of oil residue, I have an oiled filter that I put the recommended amount of oil on it but in the bottom of the filter housing there's red oil, filter oil, could this be a combination of filter oil and ccv oil making my smoke? Also there's a little bit of chiming coming from what I believe is the turbos, actuator moves back and forth but not sure if it's as smooth as it should be, any ideas? Please help fellas!!

Welcome to PSA!

It could be possible you didn't let it dry completely, but when I was running my oiled filters I never had an issue with dusting. I would check turbo shaft play and see. Is the oil that's on the turbo's black with the texture of engine oil? or is the oil tacky?

It's more or less sooty, maybe a little tack to it, you probably right about it may have been a little wet, I can push low side compressor to touch housing, no signs of wear though, could it be oil leaking on exhaust side of hp? I'm not tore into it that far yet

Also, I let the truck sit for 3 days, then I drone it 70 miles today round trip, no issues with it smoking, temps are running closer together, I drained oil, new oil and filter, only 2800 on other oil but it's worth a try, should my turbos make any kind of noise at idle?

There's no performance issues, it hauls the mail, I'm guessing I'm over 500rwh, but never dynoed, egr/PDF deleted, balanced and blueprinted long block, h and s mini, s and b cold air intake, 4 in straight pipe

I should dig into this until the turbos come out? Lol this could lead to a lot of cussing, only way to tell if it's a seal is to take them off right?

How much play is acceptable? I know I have a lot of questions, please bear with me!
