I've a 7.3, 6.4 and a 6.7 now, I recently bought a 2007 6.0 and have some questions. The truck seems to have to work harder than it should to drive, if you know what I mean? Coming from a 6.7 (which is obviously a whole different animal), I have to hit it to half throttle it seems to get it to accelerate at a decent rate where the 6.7 I barely had to tap it and it pulled good.

Also, what's normal boost, cruising at 70mph on flat ground? Mine also has a stage 3 powermax, a level and 35s.

What should ICP be at that same speed?

What does everyone pull for mileage in theirs? I've always heard they so pretty good on fuel, mine seems terrible. I never get over 13mpg it seems.

Also, I have extended crank time when cold, what causes that normally?

RPM gauge will work for a while, and end up about 1k off eventually until I restart (running 2k rpm it will read 1k and 0 at idle).

The other day I went to start it and it just make a click. Starter didn't turn or anything. Turned the key about 50 times and it cranked over like normal and started normal.

Sorry for all the questions, figured might as well hammer them all out at once instead of asking them in 14 different threads.

Let me know what other info you need, curious to see what others are running.

Mine got about 14-15 around town with a stage 3(68mm) harder, right between 19-20 on the highway.

Seems like mine ran right at 4 or 5 lbs of boost at highway, but I had to anticipate hills or I would lose speed.

Who's tuning and what tune are you running?

Sounds like you have a few electrical issues to work through.

Geerhead tuning, on the street tune. See I run 15lbs of boost at 70mph. Hit a hill and I see 20lbs. Turbo is just singing away

I ran their race tune, and hot street tune and could climb the 2 mile 6% grade here at 12-15 lbs of boost depending on the weather.

I feel like there's an underlying issue somewhere, especially with what you've already stated about the electrical. Might start with the basics first, make sure all your battery connections are clean and tight, and check the connections for the gauge cluster.

Im running stage 3 (68mm) KC, i see around 4-7 cruising, 700-1000 degrees egts at 72mph (2k rpm). Typically running around 1500ish icp, but my gauge may be slightly off. I am also leveled on 35s.

Extended crank cold sounds like batteries, as does your starting issue. Could also be ficm, injectors, or oil draining back if not using a ford filter/cap, for the extended crank. I agree with checking/replacing your batteries.

Where are you located? I have seen rusty ass trucks drag calipers, or parking brakes causing lack of power/excessive cruising effort or boost.

Mileage wise im seeing about 12.5-13, but i have a smitty built defender roof rack with 4 8in kc lights on top.

Located in North Dakota. It has brand new batteries, cranks over fast, just doesn't fire for a while, it has brand new injectors and a 58c ficm as well. Is that 13 highway or city? I get about 10 city and 13 highway which I think is ridiculous. And my boost seems crazy high.

Are you on stock height, and tires? My boost just seems crazy high.

13 mixed. Check your brakes and stuff. Also ac co.pressor, idlers, tensioner, etc. If they start seizing, itll cause extra load as well.

Any sure fire way to check these? I can put the truck in neutral and push it fairly easy so I assume the brakes aren't hanging. I'll check them tho by driving in flat ground for a while and coasting to a stop and seeing if the rotors are hot.

You could jack up all 4 wheels and spin them with it in neutral. Or do a heat gun test like you said. I dont know if that will show if the park brake is hanging or not though, as that js in the hat of the rear rotors.

Well if it's hanging it should be difficult to turn them, not? I'll try that this weekend. Any other things to check? I knew it was excessive.

No, I'm leveled on 315's. Yes it does seem high. Has this issue been going on? Or just since it's gotten cold?
Just got the pickup so I couldn't even tell you. The guy before me said it made 17-18 highway which I believed.

What's your exhaust temps running? And how are you reading boost?
Can't even give you an accurate exhaust number. I used to be able to read them on my insight, now I can't find the pid for it anymore. Previous owner install a glow shift in the down pipe which is worthless in my opinion and they sit about 500 degrees. I have a glow shift mechanical gauge, the stock gauge and what the insight tells me. Glow shift is 2psi lower than stock and insight till 20psi than they are right on.

Had one in shop while back that ran fine right off the bottom but a dog in the mid and high range. Hooked up my AE and it was building way to much boost right off the bottom and at cruising speed?the veins where stuck in the turbo. Cleaned the turbo and it ran perfect.

Id yank your turbo and clean up the vanes. You may have some sticking vanes. I pulled the turbo off my dually cause I was having a low boost issue but i've read that stuck vanes can cause an overboost too. 15 psi cruising is high. I'm on 40's in my 04 and i don't even push that boost at 70

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. My EBP is also way too high. Stuck vanes cause that too?
