This is true. I suppose I was giving the shop who did his work credit that they torqued them to spec. If they used a cheap gasket like I have saw before it is very possible to crush it. If they used the OEM gasket they would strip the threads before crushing the gasket.

The factory gasket is good enough to be reusable as recommended by the factory. Otherwise get the 4R100 pan and factory gasket. There are a couple of good reasons why BTS does not recommend using high capacity trans pans.

Ok I'll just buy an oem pan and gasket from ford and an output shaft housing gasket. Do you guys know where I can buy a replacement tube for the trans dipstick it leaks where it enters the pan

When ordering the 4r100 pan, you have to know if its for a 2wd or 4wd, the 4wd pans have a mini-sump on them and you have to get the corresponding trans filter for 2wd or 4wd.

Gonna go to ford in the morning and buy the parts , do you have a picture of the output shaft housing gasket? I called them to see what was in stock and they were confused on what that gasket is . I just wanna make sure I get the right gasket !

It may be called a 4x4 extension housing or something different. But here is what the gasket looks like. Those thin parts at the bottom is where mine blew out somehow.

Really appreciate the help buddy thanks again. Is it hard to replace myself? I'm gunna do the pan and gasket myself and would hate to pay a shop if it's as easy as the pan

It's not terribly difficult. You would just have to drop the tcase and the tranny crossmember. And then just pull the cover off. Before you go through that much work though I'd suggest trying the new pan and gasket first and see what happens. If it still leaks after that with all the bolts torqued to spec then I would replace it. Especially if it seems to be coming primarily from the rear. It will eventually travel all over the pan somehow, at least thats how mine looked.

11 lb/ft for the pan bolts. Pretty critical or you'll either damage the gasket/pan or strip the bolt holes.
