If you don't mind it riding like a "truck" then you would be fine with either. But more then likely you will end up changing it out to something else....LOL.

I like the Icon/OUO stuff. If it is a dedicated tow rig and the truck is tuned I would look into some traction bars.

For peace of mind, I second the traction bars recommendation!! World of difference if lifted and tuned!! Your rear end will thank you.

I had a 6" ProComp on my 2007.5 Duramax for a few years - it was great. I agree with the comment above about getting traction bars - they make a world of difference. I'd buy another ProComp for the 6.4 I have now IF I was planning on lifting it.

This is exactly right. They won't be dump truck terrible, but they have a lot of room for improvement. It's definitely going to be stiffer, rougher, and handle worse than stock.

2.5" icon coils up front, 11" taller block in back with side tangs for air bags, Fox 2.0shocks all around. Rides great and tows great. I also added a 3link in the front for caster adjustment and traction bars in back for axle wrap. This is all available at Precision Metal Fab from Trevor. His customer service is stellar and he'll never sell you something you don't need.

If you decide to do the lift first, check out PMF. I've found with them you get a little more value for the money, and they actually use Icon coils so you can get the same Icon type ride or better, for a little less. For just a mild lift, I have a 3.5'' lift from them and its a really nice height as far as function goes. Tall enough to look lifted, but not enough to be a burden.

And also, when you get to doing steps, check out AMP steps. Again they're pricey, but so, completely, worth it.

I really like how the guys at PMF explain all the options to you. It gives us new guys a good basis to go off of. And great looking truck man!
