Well anything can happen, just depends on how old the pump is.
Push the schrader valve on the fuel filter head and crank the engine to see if you're getting any fuel to the fuel filter, if you are then loosen one injector line at a time and crank the engine and see if you're getting fuel to the injectors, doing this will also work out any air that might be in the system.
If you're not getting fuel to the injectors, but you are getting fuel the the IP I would say the pump gave out.
If you are getting fuel to the IP and you are also getting fuel to the injectors I would say you have huge air leak somewhere.
In that case my guess would be the return lines, or it could also be the old fuel water separator mounted on the drivers side fire wall (silver fuel filter looking thing) if it is still hooked up.
