how did you get those so bright? i have red LED bulbs in my cluster but I can only see the needles

I had to take it apart and scrape the green off the back of the gauges. Its kinda a pain to get the needles back in the right place (that's why my volt meter is so high) but not impossible

do you just have to mark where the needles are before you take them out?

you have to pull the cluster out, remove the plastic cover, drive the truck around and get it to normal operating temp, mark all needles at operating temp, then do your mods, get the truck back to normal operating temp, then re-install all the needles on your marks.

This works for temp volt and oil, the speedo and tach both go to zero when the key on engine off, and the fuel is easiest to wait till one of your tanks are full or empty.

this may be a stupid question... but why does it have to be at opperating temperature?

Actually now that I think about it, it doesn't just make sure its the same temp when you take it off as when you put it back on. The cover pieces that you take off and scrape the green off of come off in four separate sections. I haven't done the temp and oil section yet, that's why its still green.

so those black plastic pieces that you look at are what has to come off to scrape the green off the back?
I had the oil psi and fuel gauge black piece loose today and it didn't want to stay in place... and i couldn't figure out how to get the needles off
so I stopped before I broke something

The needles pull strait off with a little bit of force. With the black plastic pieces i used a couple small drops of glue to hold the ones that wouldn't restick. When you do pull that black piece off try only to only scrape off behind the gauges if you scrape to much of the black the light will shine threw. Its not really that hard to do i used the tip of my pocket knife it worked fine. When you put the needles back on dont push them to far on i had a problem with my rpm needle sticking so i pulled it out just a little and it worked fine.
