What HP would I be looking at with stage 2's and d66? Just trying to get some number together so I cant get a better clutch before purchasing the injectors and turbo.

Thanks for the info guys! and I don't think I want to 5 speed swap anymore. After pricing a clutch, and other parts. I could just get a built auto. Any suggestions on who to get one from?

Hmmmmm.... BTS or John Woods, sounds like (and take this with a grain of salt coming from a ZF-5 guy) that BTS just builds one bad ass option and you get multiple options with Woods.. I am thinking about a BTS in the future so my wife will drive the truck more so I can sleep on the way home from long trips too..

440 with d66 160/100s and tunes. Have valair ceramic single disc. Not a good option for 2wd trucks that tow. 4x4 would be fine just need to put it in 4low when backing up. Decided to do the swap let me know if you need a clutch. We only use Valair!

So your saying if I get a Valair clutch, everytime I back up I have to put it in 4low?

^ I personally prefer a single, depending on what material its made of than I would a double for backing. Much easier for me to manipulate a single. The single best thing I have done for all the SBC in my personal ones was to go and get them smoking hot as soon as I installed them.

Single disk clutches make backing up a chore. Dual disks not such a problem.

Incorrect, A single disc organic is a stock clutch that holds a bit more because of the heavy springs in the hub. Nor does a kevlar/ceramic, acts like a stock clutch but can hold more power ONLY a full ceramic or dual disc full ceramic gives you that issue. But like I said if you have 4x4 you just engage it in 4 low and that solves the problem with a ceramic clutch! We've had many people have NO luck with a SBC clutch. Not to say they're bad just have nothing but issues. In sled pulling down here a few guys had SBC dual discs and it looked like a fireworks show under the truck. They switched to a Valair and haven't had an issue! Our Valairs have given us no problems and our customers have had zero issues too! We only use Valair and deal with them directly the shop trucks dual disc ceramic, my personal dually with a single ceramic, the pull truck has a dual disc SI, and Jesse's F250 has a single ceramic. All from Valair and all with no issues and 50k plus miles.

I have a full ceramic single disk...and I tow just fine with it. Backing up can be a tad jumpy but really not that bad at all.

NO only if you get a single disc ceramic clutch and ONLY if you are towing

Whatever. In my personal trucks, SBC's hopped when in rev.

I have seen ZERO people that pull (competitively) that use valair. Not saying they cant or havn't, just never seen it. Its all SBC and a few others that I see.

Correct me someone if I am wrong but isn't valair the brand several years ago that you had to grind on the bell housing to even make them fit properly??

Pretty sure thats just for the sintered iron dd for the zf5. Either way I know of a 12valve/zf5 brick body ford that pulled competitively in 3.0 with that setup for a long time.

Not saying SBC are junk. Certainely not thier higher end street and performance clutchs and dd's. But I certainely wouldnt ever run another stock or mildly stronger then stock organic single disk of thiers over a valair in comparison.

Well Tim I don't know the last pull you've been to all of us over here use Valair in the pull trucks without an issue. Thats 15 trucks and im the only Ford. I didn't have to mod anything and the SI dual disc went right in. One of the pullers just picked one up from me two weeks ago due to his brand new SBC slipping like hell and them not doing anything about it due to the competition use. SBC also uses rubber bushings in their "quiet" dual disc to stop chatter that fall out over a short amount of time. Each company does something different. We just never have an issue getting in touch with Dan to ask questions and he likes pulling guys as hes one himself and always helps me help them on a price. I have no reason to argue with that.
