When I picked up my ECSB I wanted to take a small loan (about 50% of the value) for it and a credit union wouldn't do it because of the miles (136K)

Buddy go talk to Texas Dowel Employees Credit Union. They financed my 08 with 147k miles on it. Financed my 3rd gen with 115k and it was an 05. They have some dumb rules tho. I got turned down for a truck because it had a flat bed, they wont let me buy anything out of state, but other then that I have never been told no for anything.

I think we all have a number in mind when it comes to selling anything we own. I get EXTREMELY attached to my trucks and my 6.4L is the worst for that so far, but if someone were to off me my "number" I'd be 6.7 shopping. I would definitely be leery of selling to your friend. I had a bad experience with selling to one of my buddies and even though I went above and beyond to help him out when what he broke was due to abuse he still hasn't been the same to me since. Live and learn there I guess. By the way, I love your truck, I think it looks amazing.

I go ahead and lay it out there on the table before I sell to a friend. I let them know it is mechanical and even though I take care of my stuff, it may run for another 100k miles and break, may run forever and never break, or it may not make it out the driveway. Either way, signing the bill of sale (to me) is an agreement that you know its mechanical and not perfect and that whatever happens may not be your fault, but it damn sure aint going to be mine either

Agree 100% unfortunately I was away on vacation at the time and didn't know the extent of the story, he called me while I was in a limited service area and told me what broke. I have friends at the dealership, called and ordered the part for him and had them install it. When I got home and found more **** had been broken then my other friends told me it was from abuse I was not too pleased, but once again, live and learn.

Thats who financed me. my 08 350 (which i was having troubles getting a loan for a 1ton since everyone considered it to be a work truck) had 79.5K on it. And my 69mo loan is a lower rate than most new 72mo loans.

You may forget about the "child", once the new adoption is complete. ;)

Ya if I don't give up and settle on something I don't totally want. I'm looking for used, but none of them are even near as clean as my 08 was and I'm lookin at 11-12. Even one I saw with 16k miles. Apparently gravel shoved in crevices is a common issue with these trucks. I keep finding it in the same places and for what they're asking ill pay a little more and get new.

Congrats on the sale man. I hope he takes care of it as well as you do. There are nice used 11s out there for the right price just have to look for a little while. I found mine on auto trader.

It's all about wheel speed and torque.

He already brought it by my house last night with mud slung up on the side, but he swears it was in a crappy parking lot in some pothole or something. He wanted to wash it but claimed it was too cold.

Ya it's taking a bit and it's looking like I'm gonna end up having to broaden my search area. I was trying to avoid that after I drove 5 hours each way on valentines day to get my 08. I've got an in with a couple of people that can get me trucks from the auto auction so if I can get a really good deal, I'm pretty confident I can make any truck look brand new again. I may go that route if I can't find what I want.

My wife's just telling me to buy new so I'm happy, but I'm not one to just say screw it and let all my money go.

That sucks! Tell him to leave it at home, until you have yours. Once you find what you want, the pain will be more tolerable.

Exactly! Take your time and you'll find what you want. It's out there; just may take a bit of looking. Like you said, don't settle! New or used, get the one that meets your requirements.
