Deck the heads and have them checked for cracks.

This leak doesn't have anything to do with cylinder heads... Or am I missing something?

Well, on my leak they are taking the heads off, thought it was a rear main but coming from backside of engine near the top..

In my experience head gaskets on these engines seldom leak oil.

I watched a guy put heads on one for an oil leak. It was back leaking within a week, it wasn't the head gaskets leaking it was the HPFP cover gasket.

Check heads for cracks if removing and surface them!!!! Will only make truck live longer and doesn't cost allot compared to doing it 2X.

I'm not taking the heads off, the diesel tech is, they just said that they were gonna take them off to get to the leak, and they offered to install studs if I got them a set..

I am with Angry Hillbilly, I have seen the HPFP covers leak quite frequently.
