Approximately how much lube oil pressure should I be seeing during cranking? Gauge on dash is coming up but no start and it's not making any high pressure oil. Wanting to make sure I have adequate low pressure oil before I tear in any deeper. Truck is not making any high pressure oil even with pump capped off and only hooked to pressure gauge.

I would think that would be plenty. Could be wrong though.

I would think that as long as the Low Pressure pump was filling the reservoir, you would be good to go.

...as long as the Low Pressure pump was filling the reservoir, you would be good to go.

yeah

...as far as (simply) MAKING ICP pressure...you really only need a 'volume' of oil IN the reservoir...it's simply a 'fuel tank' for the HPOP(s) to draw from...nothing more.

with a large enough reservoir..the truck would fire and run indefinitely (aside from positive pressure IN the res...)...it would only die when reservoir was depleted///(though oil level in pan might become an issue, :p )

Well that's what I thought but I was scratching my head on this one. Had one of our company trucks come in running on 4-6 cyls and a ton of codes. Had one of the uvc's loose so we put new ford gaskets on it. Still had IDM codes and several injectors failing cct and buzz. Slapped a set of injectors in and that's where it got hairy. All codes were gone, IDM included. Buzzed great but no fire. Was just checking all my pressures to make sure everything was good. My first though was that my guy had a brain fart and rolled an injector oring or 3 causing lack of hpo. Turns out the ipr coil failed sometime in between replacing the injectors and trying to fire it up morning. Simple fix.

I recall doing all sorts of checking and what not only to find the stupid IPR nut loose.

I hate that IPR nut...

Nothing worse then cruising down the road and it starts bouncing and running like crap...

"FOOK now what"

Oh, you again... LOL

I kept my stock solid nut and I use that with some purple loctite and have never had it come loose sense. I can not stand the cheap sheet metal nut that comes on the replacement IPRs
