So I've been thinking that maybe my oil cooler is starting to go out as my temps have been about 20 degrees apart (oil hotter) well the last 3 days I was out of town for work so I haven't driven my truck at all. I get in to start it up and while the plugs and stuff are cycling my scan gauge is on. Temp in my garage is 56, coolant temp is 56 and oil temp reads 73. Shouldn't after sitting for 3 days the fluids all be the same temp? What do ya'll think?

On my live wire..on my 6.0 they read the same after sitting overnight like you're thinking they should.

Yea, and that's what I was thinking it should be. All logic would make you think they'd be the same temp. So I wonder if its a bad temp sensor?

If so another monitor would read the same...however I've had different monitoring devices that all read different temps.

For example I used a diag tool that said my oil was 295*...immediately plugged in my CTS and it read 19x...

I know my livewire readings usually stay ECT (190-194*F) EOT(90-92*C)

You need to see what the readings are once up to temp

I was doing it more to compare what each was reading, if one is reading 149 when the other is reading 174 , something ain't right. Might have to get an actual oil temp gauge and see where it really is at

Horrible state of CA
Looks like the truck is still warming up. You should monitor these pids once the truck reaches normal temp not while warming up. Also 20 degs is still within specs. It's not like a 6.0 were the spec is 15 degs.

Well, hooked up the live wire and drove down the highway, going down the highway the coolant temp was fluctuating between 194 and 196 and EOT on the live wire was staying between 90.5 and 91.68 which when converted to fehrenheit comes out to 194.x and 196.8 so idk. I'm gonna have to play with the scan gauge some more and see if I can play with it and get better numbers

I think you're good.

Why do the 6.4 livewires read eot in Celsius

I don't even know. Coolant temp is in F and oil temp is C. Ya got me.

I'm even more confused now why the scan gauge reads some of the readings so off.

I never could get an answer out of SCT on why it was like that. Other things such as FRP, EBP, Boost, etc, one reads PSI, MPa, and the other reads Kpa

After reading this thread I got a little worried. When I got in my truck after work I set my mini-max to view coolant temp and oil temp. The difference between the two indicates my oil cooler is plugged. Once warmed up and cruising down the highway at 65-70 my coolant was 185ish F and my oil got up to 233F. Should I park it until I can fix it next weekend? I'm new to the 6.4L, bought it 2 weeks ago and I'm scared to mess it up.

That is a pretty big difference. How many miles are on the truck?
