Not trying to start an arguement over what oil is the best or not. Ive use amsoil for all but one change.
Just curious to know who uses what?
how many miles you run it for ?
how expensive it was?

I need to change my oil very soon and what to hear your opinions on what you used and liked. And full synthetic is the only stuff i will ever use.

As long as it is SAE rated for diesel motors, it meets at least minimum industry standards.

BTW, look at that jug of AMSOIL, see if you can find an SAE rating on it.

Not saying anything bad about AMSOIL, just saying.

dont run the synthetic 5w40.... ****ing looked like I put a fish tank airetor in the oil... Im back to bulk dino Delvac 15w40... Going to be hard to go back to Amsoil...

I run Schaeffer's synthetics. I am cleared by their lab to run 12k miles on an oil change.

I gain about a mpg when i run amsoil but i go through it to much. If i run any synthetic i use a qt per 1500 miles... so i just stay with delo 15-40... its the best dino ive found for my truck that doesn't smoke or use it... i run the girl hard and use about a qt per 3000-4000 miles. If i just baby her all the time its a qt per 5k miles... my oci are 5k and about 55$ and thats with a qt left over..

3 to 4k . The stuff smells with the ccv in the atmosphere

Only stuff carried locally is Rotella here and i frickin hate it. I put 15-40 in the last time I changed which was about 1k miles and it starts like crap even in 50* weather when cold.

With winter coming up what do you northern guys use? I normally use Valvoline 5w-40 year round.

I run Delo 15w40 for 5-6000 miles. It has been used in my truck for all of the 230,000 miles except for the initial oil that was put in it off the line. Everyone I directly know uses it too. I have not had any issues with it at all. It doesn't smell to bad out of the CCV either.

I have thought about running Royal Purple 15w40 also, but I just can't see myself paying $130 for oil plus $10 for the filter lol

RP had a string of bad OA results for me. Sheared really bad at around 4k miles. I'm not a fan of that stuff. My oil changes with amsoil on my 7.3's cost around 130 with filter and I run about 9k mile drain intervals. OA with that says I was still good at around 9250 but I figure I've gotten my money's worth at that point.
