So after breaking my front diff and axle shaft last weekend it has got me thinking about how soon until I have drivshaft, u joint issues. I am thinking I want to do a one piece rear driveshaft with upgraded u joints. This possible on a CCSB? Also, with the front driveshaft is there a way to eliminate the double u-joints by the transfer case? Seems like more things to break and I want this truck to hold the power as reliably as possible. Give me some suggestions here!

do you do any off roading ? the double cardon allows for steep drop angles when off road, big single joints are ok, just the balance and angles need to be spot on when talking about a short shaft for street, light trail use.
depending on the angle, t case drops and pinion angles may need adjusted, at least thats how we do them on old chevys and jeeps. not sure on the new stuff....

Not at all. Truck is lowered in the front and no block in the back. Its a pavement princess lol. Drive it on the street and down the track.

sounds like a good candidate for one piece shafts and solid spicer U joints.
May even be some billet machined joints out as well, as there is in the hardcore off road world.
-just depends where you want the weak link.... like the greasable u joint... they snap before you twist that one piece shaft in two !

I would want a drive shaft hoop for a long single though.....

How will a rear one piece shaft work if the stock driveshaft mounts solid at the t-case and the rear diff? Not sure If I'm just confused about this stuff, but I really don't know much about driveshafts... And yes a driveshaft hoop will definitely happen

There will be a slip joint at the end near the transfer case. Just look at any EC/SB or Regular Cab, they have a one piece rear shaft. Also the front shaft with the double joints is probably just as strong as a single joint. Plus you might have to change your front pinion angle to run one.

I just recently swapped my rear to a one piece, as described with a slip joint near the tcase. It's really smoothed the vibrations out. Crewcab short box.

Around the $650 mark. extra heavy wall material. I was assured by the driveline shop That I won't break it sled pulling.

It's steel tube. 1480 joints. Drive Systems Inc. (DSI) It's a local Calgary company, they do tons of industrial shafts mostly, for the oilfield, drilling rigs and highway trucks.

Just shot a couple quick pics of it for you. We'll see how it holds up, but looks decent, I don't have any concerns with it at all yet.
