So I'm looking at buying a "built" motor and just want your guys opinion on weather it's worth the money or not.
This is what the add say

" NO CORNERS CUT complete ford 7.3 engine for sale under 7000km on custom rebuild engine . (personally built im an ex ford tech ) parts are as follows in engine , ceramic coated pistons , cryogenic treated connecting rods and crank , custom ground camshaft , manton 7/16" pushrods , comp valve springs , studded heads , billet intake manifolds , 160cc single shot fuel injectors , d66 turbo , cfm intake elbow , ceramic coated exhaust manifolds andE turbo housing , regulated return fuel system , 17deg hpop , melling high volume oil pump , engine made over 500 hp with custom chip and water meth kit was cut off past summer with truck and wrote it off. Engine can be heard running. Direct fit for 94 to 97 , custom tuning required for superduty as oem tuning has split shot injection but can be programmed backwards more power made with single shot injection. Build price was over 20k worth of parts into motor it is a steal at this price . Installation can be arranged

Now he's asking $9500 for this motor, is it worth it?
Thanks for any input on this, cheers!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you could touch 500hp with 160cc injectors. You could have more then 500 for less then that also.

I was thinking the same thing, I thought 160cc injectors were only good for around 350hp. Also considering it has stock connecting rods ( just treated ) and only a 17*hpop I can't see how $20,000 was apparently spent.

It's worth about $5k. Bottom end if done right is good for 7-900 rwhp on good tunes. The rest won't handle any more then 350-380rwhp as it sits rate now

How much methanol do you have to pour on to hit 500hp with 160 stageIIs? MIGHT have lived a hard life. WOP would have thrown in billet rods, firerings and girdle for the money this guy is talking about.

I would have a hard time buying a "built" engine from somebody I had never met or heard of, for all we know the engine could have been built very well and hold up nicely but there's no way I would gamble that much $$ on something I couldnt be more certain about... If he really did spend 20k and didn't have a good set of rods put in it what else did he not do? Be nice to know the brand of cam that was installed in it

Water meth will not make that added power ever cool egt yes. To make that power on 160cc you need nitrous. The goofy juice

For all anyone knows it could be none stock w studs. Take your motor stud it valve springs new turbo, hpop, fuel system and some 238/80 or 250/100 and good tunes you will make 500rwhp and the motor is more then reliable

With nitrous you need enough excess fuel, with 160s I don't think you can get that amount. There were guys who would shoot straight methanol though, with the side effects to prove it.....

I just broke a stock forged rod at 550hp

Shhhhh let's say it was making way more than that.... I can't lie and say I'm not a tad nervous about how well mine will hold together I know bill has worked hard tuning it to make as much as possible and keep it alive but as we all know it's a gamble on stock rods lol
