But, is there a way where you don't have that nasty smell/smoke? I had my 7.3 routed to Atmo, I had to put it back, the smoke coming inside the truck, when at the drive thru (embarrassing), or at a stop light, was too much.

6.7's are worse than the 7.3 imo. If I'm at a light, I feel sorry for the guy next to my exhaust. However I have zero in cab smell, still smells brand new actually!

I have a ccv I can smell it but I don't find it awful. I would say pull your intake pipe. Take a look. See if your comfortable with the oil residue and go from there. I know with 17k km I wasn't happy with the oil in the intake

Yeah, originally I had it routed to the tail pipe, but after a few "adventures" out here in the desert, I decided to move it up to cut down on extra hose/parts that could fail. Also when I did my CCV reroute and piping swap, I had 3k miles on the truck, and there was half a teaspoon of oil in the turbo and piping...

I don't understand the ccv mod - well I do but why not just use a catch can? No smell to worry about just dump it every once in a while. Used them on my performance cars but maybe there's a reason it's not a good idea here?

Just volume, that's really it. Ton of blow by just due to the rings, which are designed to expand when you're really working the truck, aka towing. MOST sports car engines will never see temps like that, thus, no need for loose rings.
Could you do a catch can? Sure, but it would have to be big, and you'd be emptying it a lot more. Plus it's a diesel truck, no one thinks twice at smoke and smells coming out of them, but a cloud of oil vapor from your lambo... dif story...

That being said, it would be easy to do a DIY coalescing filter with pvc pipe and steel wool, bolt it to the frame where it's easy to get to, to drain.

That makes sense. I was actually thinking a big can mounted to the frame with a quick release drain valve could be sweet.
