Painted mirrors?

Hey guys. For all you that color matched your tow mirrors.... what kind of prep work did you do?

I took my truck (2012 f250 King ranch) to a body shop to have a dent fixed, and asked to get my mirrors painted also. They said they could try but they would not guarantee it because the paint would not hold... even with the adhesion additive??

Anyway, just wondering what works and what doesn't?

And what all is involved in taking them apart? It was my favorite thing I did to my old duramax, kinda scared to mess with these fancier more expensive mirrors, looks so damn good though
