All right, i finally got time to check my rear end and its not good. And i only have one vehicle right now. Soon to be another when ever i get the check.

I can not find a shop that will install my Detroit True trac, or even do maintenance on a rear end. And im guessing i will need a new ring gear from the chucks that i pulled off the plug. So my question is who do you know that will install and work on the rear ends that knows what they are doing. I dont want to pay a fortune but if it can be done right the first time relitively quick money wouldnt be an issue.

If you do know of a shop pm me the info or txt me with some info. I need this done asap. Thank you.

Cellular digits seven two four - 6 3 0- 5 nine 7 three

Thank you

Greg

Just got off the phone with him. Seems ok, but kinda made me mad when he took another call for almost 10 mins. I called another shop a few hours ago and he will call me back as their main mechanic wasnt there. So i will have to weigh my options.

Have you ever had them work on your stuff, fine69. Just curious as to if what he says, he actually does.

Personally, no he's never done work for me. He has built several rearends for a couple of my good friends, (truck rearends and a couple racecar rearends), and they were all perfect. Not surprised he had you on hold that long, he can be a little weird at times. Did you talk to John or one of his guys?

I didnt hear his name. Sounded older, little raspy. I will have to see what other shop says tomorrow. They are a little far away from here. So im leaning towards the garage you referred me too. I just hope it dont cost as much as he was kind of quoting.

Let me ask a couple dirt track racers I know if they know anybody else. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from them. How much was he talking?

$500+ labor $300+ parts.

Said it would be roughly 6-8hr job, and do the math thats pretty $$$.

If its an 8 hour job - that's $62.5 an hour - that's actually right about the going shop rate. Most shops around here are in the $75 an hour range - so he is not far off. And if you toss into the fact that you want it done by someone experienced so it can be done quickly and correctly plus most of your standard shops want nothing to do with it.... it doesn't sound all that bad to me.

Remember - typical business offerings have three features: cost, quality, and speed - you can choose any of the two, but not the third.

Try Meridian Off Road in Butler PA I know that they work on rear ends
I asked them about it last year and they wanted a ton. I got my bumper thru them and other things. Nice guy just seems to tack on extra money for his own gain.

I was looking into it alittle more. And it still seems steep but, in the general area of everyone else. My buddy referred me to his friend, and he does this all the time out of his personal garage. So im going to bite the bullet and let him do it. Its going to save me some money and i can have it done pretty quick. We will see tho, i am dropping it off monday night. Hope he does as good a job as my buddy says he does.
