Any of you guys break the plastic line that comes off the top of the timing cover, runs down the manifold and connects to the heater core? I've been toying with making something to replace that cheap thing but I'm not exactly sure how big of a problem it is for everybody. It seems to just end up getting brittle from the heat cycles and cracking or actually breaking in two. Kind of a PITA to replace. Just trying to gauge interest really.

it would be an awesome thing to have while the cab is off or part of the engine is part, because really to replace it correctly you have to have the intake manifold off.

What i ended up doing was just cutting it and splicing with heater hose, not sure what the real option would be maybe just put a fitting in the water pump and run larger an fittings and steel braded hoses? but not sure how you would handle the heater core end of it, but its stupid and it would be nice to have a fix, might not sell a ton as something to buy but if i a guy is already doing a build that would be ideal

Yeah, I've got something similar drawn up. Stainless braided would put the cost of the kit out of reach for most so I chose Goodyear heater hose. The plastic line from ford runs somewhere around $60 retail. I don't think I could do anything for much less than $85 a kit. To me it is worthwhile because you never have to worry about it again. The worst is that line cracking on an assembly, dropping the cab to find a leak and having to tear into it again. I don't think they will fly off the shelf but I hope that it would be worthwhile for the 6.4 crowd enough to run something better for a few bucks more. I don't know, I'm spit balling lol

no i absolutely agree, if you have it available and someone runs into issues i would gladly spend the 100 bucks to make sure it never happens again. Maybe offer it in stainless and reg heater hose, i kinda dig how stainless heater and fuel lines look when done properly

I just broke that one the other day. It was a real pain to fix, but I did with the same factory line that was there. I am kind of kicking myself now for not putting in something different that would never be an issue again. I think its a great idea to be honest.

Well I wish I had something made so you wouldn't have had to, Jerry. I've got everything in motion now though. I'll have kits put together end of next week. Might be a bish to do now but if you wanted to get rid of that stock crap, I'll hook you up. Would love to have your feedback

I busted mine to. Barely touched it. Ford didn't have one in stock so I cut it off an inch above where it bolts down on top of the front cover and ran a stainless braided hose. Looks good and this one can be touched lol.

Lol right? I'll be doing something similar with the kit but just a tad more billet. How'd you handle the cut ends of that stainless line? I imagine it was fray city with a hose clamp connection.

Yessir! Hard to see the ends unless your lookin for it so I just used a clamp. Suppose a nice fitting or billet piece on the one end would look better.

Hey Steve do you wanna send one of those bad boys my way. I'd like to try one out and I'm about to do an intake and tow power X's in another couple weeks. So it would be a good time to get at it while I'm that far into it.

Yup! I'm going to have everything together hopefully within a week or two. I'll keep in touch

This might become a necessity for anybody doing studs cab on. I know I had to be very careful torqueing mine down because the torque wrench would just catch that plastic feed line.
