So I am still fighting transmission gremlins or tuning deficiencies and want to know if there are any tuners selling transmission only tunes? I have GH and the engine file is ok but not as good as it was on SCT so I am open to a new engine file as well but after spending over $600 on GH tunes this year I want to know it is going to be noticeably better. I know of a couple forum members that have engine tunes (they have IM'd me) only and I may go with one of them that answered me (keeping them anonymous) :) I have run H&S and GH, both are not good for my transmission but I have been living with it. If I run in tow mode the shift problems disappear, if I shift manually the problems disappear, and if I unload a file a reload a new one it shifts good for a day and then goes right back to being a PITA. I have a horrible 1-2 shift that sometimes flares(?) basically the transmission slams back and forth between 1-2 as if the line pressure is not enough or too much to make the shift; this happens at low speed like in bumper to bumper traffic. The 3-2 downshift feels like the transmission is falling out of the truck, literally if you didn't see my truck driving by the sound would make you think someone was rear ended. Now I am getting a slip shift from 3-4 and 5-6 and at heavy throttle the gap is so long I hit red line before it goes to 6th (scary!) I just let off the throttle when that happens. Shop said fluid is good, no burnt smell, filter is clean, etc...no sign it is giving out so since I can run in tow mode or manual without issue I figure it is the transmission file. I have only had H&S can and GH so if anyone has a suggestion or maybe thinks it is something other than the tune (like a faulty TCM) let me know. I'm almost ready to sell it but no one would buy it the way it shifts. :cursing:

GH tranny shifting sucks. Period. I have voodoo tunes on my SCT and they shift awesome. I also have Midwest diesel tunes for my H&S and I think that I like how the tranny tune is the best on that one. Wish I could use my SCT engine tune and H&S trans tune. But I'd give Midwest diesel a call and see if you can get just a trans tune.

Both the H&S and GH tunes do this? That kinda makes me think there is a problem somewhere else. I have ran some tunes that shifted horrible before but I could switch to another company and the problems would go away.

First person I have read that didn't like how GH tunes shifted. What platform are you all running on?

I like how the vgt tune I got from them shifts with my non vgt turbo. The non vgt tune for trans wants to get to the next gear as soon as it can, soft, sloppy shifts, and then the lockdown threshold is so low that it then starts hunting. I think I'm on version 3 now and just giving up with their trans tune. Maybe others have good luck but I don't.

Oh yeah, it's like it gets confused when you slow down and speed up again. It acts like the clutch is pushed in and then picks a gear which is like 1 or 2 too low, so it just screams then does a couple almost instant shifts.

But 2012 with an ATS 4000. Stock fuel, no limit stage 2 cai. Nothing odd

I had a Torque Tech T1 before I went non-VGT and it shifted fine, still shifted fine afterwards but the engine tune was horrible which is why I went SCT. As soon as I loaded the GH files shifting went south so we moved to H&S and I ran canned tunes for a while which weren't bad but engine was not at potential so finally got GH H&S loaded and tranny has been crap ever since. I moved back to H&S canned transmission file because it is at least normal at the 3-4 and 5-6 shifts.

If I go back to OEM stock and then load a custom tune without the transmission file will I have the OEM file for shifting?

Seems odd. On the H&S, you can run different engine vs. trans tunes. Maybe not paired well, but at least a different option to try. Also, call Mike. He has quite a few directions. He may even deal Midwest koolaid.

First person that speaks so strongly about it anyways. Going from H&S to GH was a huge improvement for me but after two years, they do need some help. Mike was able to get me squared away.

I didn't mean to sound so bold. I just saw that he had a non-vgt turbo and I had a bad experience with their non-vgt specific trans file.

Their vgt stuff ran great and actually runs better on the non-vgt setup then the specific one does. So yeah, I was a bit blunt.

Do you not leave all of your files on the card?

No, just had GH files or so I thought. When i brought the card inside the transfile was not in the same format as the engine file which has me thinking that I may have been running the base file for transmission and GH for the engine. So I made sure the files were the same and put them on the card. Example is one transmission file was title F6.7TMCC and the other was T6.7V4 one engine was F6.7MMCC and the other was E6.7V4. Make sense? I don't have time tonight to drive it but will in the morning and see if that changes anything. More to come....

Doo Dah, do you have traction bars on your truck? it looks like you're lifted with 37s. Axle wrap can be really bad on these trucks especially with that kind of set up. I have run GH tunes on both my 2011 and my 2016 and neither of them sound as bad as what your describing. In fact I loved the trans shifting on Matts tunes. Just trying to rule out whether this is in fact his tunes or your truck.
