Doo Dah, do you have traction bars on your truck? it looks like you're lifted with 37s. Axle wrap can be really bad on these trucks especially with that kind of set up. I have run GH tunes on both my 2011 and my 2016 and neither of them sound as bad as what your describing. In fact I loved the trans shifting on Matts tunes. Just trying to rule out whether this is in fact his tunes or your truck.

I agree with this. I ran matts as well and loved them. Traction Bars are the chit!

I'm running tunes from truck source and ********** diesel. Only time I had this issue with my SD once and it was because I upped my line pressure 25% I dropped it with my sct down to 10 & 15% no problems now. Shift is super solid. It will slam 2nd and bark at you. I just got it out yesterday from putting new studs, rebuilt heads, along with whole top end. But I fought the flares and it was due to line pressure

I don't have traction bars and I know that is contributing to the severeness of the shifts. I can feel the axle pivot forward on hard stops and roll back on take off so that is on the list but taking that out it still has some violent shifts and the back and forth slam from first to second. I drove the truck this morning and it was no different than before but now that I have driven it to my son's soccer practice and back home it is getting softer and shifting better so maybe still learning. I am going to reserve judgement until I get a few hundred miles on it which should be by Sunday and see if things really improve. We were on the road all summer and it does so well towing in tow/haul mode I didn't feel urgency to get traction bars. I will make sure it is next on the list. I sold my TT and now buying a 5th wheel so I am shopping for 6.0s to pull the fiver since my truck is too tall, this also takes me away from traction bars.

i bet traction bars cure at least 80% of the issues you describe...

Yeah.....I didn't think it initially but I know you all have experience in it and I trust it so guess I'll get some on there ASAP.

I happen to be a Ford tech and do you seriously think that there is no relevance in discussing trans line pressure? So how is it you found out that the concept and design of a trans do not function similar? You don't know what to do hence the thread yet focus on my personal truck vs words about something you hadn't fixed.

On a side note my traction bars helped. Worth the investment

Still waiting on my PMF bars to be shipped but the transmission is getting freakier every day. Typically the 1-2 shift flare is just a couple of slams between first and second but today it did it 5 times. Bam, chunk, bam, chunk, bam, chunk, bam, chunk, BAM! fourth holds until almost 2800 even when light on the throttle then feels like it gets 1/2 way into 5th and pauses for a second before it goes into gear, not really a slip but close. Then it will drive perfect for a while before starting all over again. So I thought I would take it back to stock and start over but it gave me an error and would not go back to stock. Anyone have a couple 5 gallon buckets full of tannerite I can put under the truck and have target practice with? I'm ready to blow this POS up.

I reloaded tunes with no trans tuning, just the stock base file and no real improvement. Shifts are a little less harsh but the same 1-2, 3-2, 4-5, and slip from 5-6 on hard acceleration are happening. I removed lift and tires so now at stock height and not as much resonation from the harsh shifts, still waiting on PMF bars (3 weeks now, not sure of that is normal?) and starting to thing that maybe I have a couple of bad solenoids. I have read where some have replaced them to take care of this same kind of issue but not sure which ones to replace.

Truck looks weird without the lift and tires.........like a really long roller skate.
