Pop in front end

I noticed a pop when backing into my driveway the other night, so I went to a parking lot so I had room to play with it. It is making a slight pop and you can feel it kind of binding. It feels like it is coming from the front left and is only felt when the wheel is turned to certain different points. I'm planning on putting it on jack stand today to see if I can pin point it, but if it is the universal knuckle on the shaft, are they re buildable, or what else should I be checking ?

So. I jacked it up, and tried to move the tire , grabbing the top and bottom. No movement. It's not the axle knuckle because I have Warren hubs and they are not turning when not locked in. I did just change dope in the rear end and did not put any of the friction stuff in it so I figured I may be feeling a bind from that trying to lock. I put one tire on the ground, one in the air and put it in drive. No grabbing there so I obviously have an open rear end. What, or how else should I check for this before payin a chunk to have new wheel bearings put in, on hopes that that fixes the binding I'm feeling ?

Noticed it first in 2wd, hubs free spinning. I did try it in 4wd with hubs locked and it was still doing it.

It could be a lot of different things....... but I would look at all of the u-joints in the front. My 97 F-350 had a weird clunk and it turned out to be a drive shaft u-joint. I would get the truck some place where its level and check all of them. If they move together at all, they are shot.

The u joints in drive shaft nor the u joints on the axles are turning when this happens. It doesn't seem like a bushing. It feels like something rotational binding , but I will check some bushing just to be on the safe side. Stranger things have happened.

another thing, check the tie rod ends. when i got the truck now and again i would get a pop while turning it was the driver side tie rod end it was so loose it would twist the tie rod and bang around but leave the truck on the ground have someone else turn the wheel back and fourth while you look but leave the truck on the ground mine didnt make any noise when the tires were off the ground

My passenger side upper ball joints doing a killer popping noise at time on mine. Will be changing it out next week so that might be whats causing it.

Mainly does it whenever the grounds uneven.

I have got a pop too and I have looked at just about everything there is to look at. I have even crawled under it with a crowbar and worked every spot that I thought could move any over to no avail. I have even had a alignment shop check things out with out finding anything. I guess I'll just have to wait for it to break or get loose enough to move around to find it.

It's not really just a pop that I'm look for though. Mine has something binding up like a u joint binds, but all of them have been checked and don't seem to be bad. I took it to a shop and they had no luck finding it either. They said we could throw bearings and other expensive parts at it or just keep driving till it gets worse. I guess that will be my new plan.

Mines pops as well! But mine is the front shackle, the bushing is gone so when you turn and
Use the suspension it pops!

Check all the fender bolts I've seen it many times where people are replacing everything and it still did it and all they ended up doing is cranked the fender bolts a little tighter and problem went away.
