So like many, I'm now looking at upgrading my vgt to non-vgt. There is a clear price gap between the box and fmw turbos.

What I'm wondering is, does the fmw's performance warrant the huge costs against the box turbos? Is the jump in power and/or spool make it worth it?

The truck will be on 205s/75s. Its a DD but not forever. I don't mind lag, and the lag can't be as bad as many make it. There are still a lot of people on box turbos. Just looking for info from people that have done it both ways. Or hell, any info or help or suggestions.

I think the fmw is worth the money on a dd truck but if it wasn't i would just run a bigger box version. I have 225s with a 62mm fmw and it does awesome until it runs out of air and smokes like crazy so I'm sure a 64.5 would be a perfect fit for those 205s.

Was that full fuel? I think I may be going with a 64.5 fmw this fall. I'm just not sure if I should do 190/75 or 205/75.

How come ebp was a bit higher? I thought ebp was 1:1 on a non vgt?

35 and 38 is 1.08:1 so that's pretty close but the factory sensor is maxed out at 38 so it's probaby higher.

But the statement of all non vgts being 1:1 is inaccurate. Drive pressure/boost ratios will varry with set up to set up and turbo to turbo.

Thanks guys. I've gotta get the money right first. Trans is in the near future first, I got the go from my wife lol. Turbo may be held off for a while... But if I can get a trans at a decent price, plus the money left over, then I may be game by the end of this year

Like Matt said non vgt's won't run 1:1 just because its a non vgt. My 64/71/70 non vgt ran 45psi boost with 54psi ebp....which is like 1:1.2

Yeah I was just under the impression they did, but I was wrong. Doesn't matter tho, I saw it in the video so I asked. A vgt would be around 1.5:1, right?

Ebp:boost ratio will vary with every setup. Turbine size, housing size, injector size....all effect what the ratio will be. There's not a set given boost:ebp ratio just because its a vgt or non vgt turbo.
