I just realized I have the pre and post pump fuel filters backwards. I got both kits at the same time and it looks like I mixed them up. Could this be it?

That could be what burned up your pump. Obviously as Dennis has said you have tested your pump by itself and its toast.

Honestly based on the max restriction of a new filter neither should have caused an issue as far as overworking the pump. That is not to say that it did not though. The fact is the water/fuel ( the one that should be the pre filter) should have a higher flow rate thus lower BP.

I would give Dennis a call during the day time and go over everything with him. He is a great guy to deal with and has seen it all when it comes to his systems being installed. LOL I have done business a number of times with him and always been 100% satisfied. His quality is also top notch. Its his system and IMO he will be the best one to get you straighten out.

I will definitely call Dennis tomorrow. I talked to him the other day and have nothing but good things to say about him and the shop. He actually talked me out of buying a particular product from him because it would not suit my needs!!! Not many places run their shop like that, looks out for the best interests of the customer. I like that, and it has made me a LONG term customer...

Tomorrow, I am going to swap the filters and see what happens. After that, time to drop the tank. Again...

DO what Dennis recommends but without that I can tell you what I would do in your situation.

I would drop the tank and go from one end all the way to the other and reod or double check everything single piece of the system with careful attention to the instructions that came with it.

But just to be clear after what you did in testing in your post ( #17 of this thread) Your pump is fired. Nothing you are going to change is going to effect that. You had it completely isolated with the two fuel buckets. Its toast. You need a pump. Now with that said to prevent this from happening again you should do what Dennis says and or take my recommendations under consideration.

Really once you get your head around these systems they are quite basic. Sometimes when you look at detailed instructions it can seem confusing because of the level of detail. The fact is its tank PU>hose> filter> hose> pump> hose> filter> hose> Y> 2x hose> each head in> head out> 2x hose> regulator> hose> tank. Fittings to get it all connected and thats it.

If the filter with the drain (BF1212) is AFTER the pump and the filter without the drain (BF7633) is between the pump and the tank, THEY ARE BACKWARDS. Granted, a new filter will flow very well...but that old pump surely didn't like trying to prime itself with a dry 2 micron filter.

First order of business would be switching the filters and making sure that the PRE-PUMP filter has fuel in it before running the pump. Hopefully this takes care of your problem!
