Any one running dual pumps ever have the seal behind the pulley go bad? This pump is only 8 months old and has like 10000 miles on it and its leaking bad. Curious if anyone has changed the seal? Is this a swap the pump only deal instead of the seal?

There have been several guys having the reman pump seals leak. I don't know if there is a better replacement seal out there or not.

What's really nice is when that pos seal goes out and fills the crankcase with fuel...in less than 90 miles. Second time that's happened to me. Almost would be worth buying the dual fueler kit and just run a single. That way you could replace it on the side of the road. Bout ready to throw one in the glove box like guys used to with cam sensors on 7.3's.:cursing:

that is for sure these trucks are becoming more trouble than they are worth after mods. I pulled my pump off today and going to get new one tomorrow. I installed a new pump in the valley but half afraid to look at the oil seeing how it may be way over full.

When I bought a new pump, I noticed it didn't have the snap ring where the seal goes that my original did. Curious if the seals are slowly backing off because there is no retainer? Needless to say I made sure the one in the valley had the snap ring.

As far as I can see, yes. When I have taken these "reman" pumps out I can clearly see the seal deformed. These 6.4's are quickly becoming a worthless piece of iron. They run good, yes, but at what cost? I'll take my lawsuit havin 6.0 over my 6.4 any day. If it ain't the seal passin fuel it's passim metal. Any way of retro fitting a cp3 on these things? Just a idea I've been thinking of. The k16 likes to fail...

If all remans come without snap rings, could one just put snap rings in before install and hope for better results? I have no idea that's why I ask.

So what exactly are all the ford dealers doing about this crap? If they're putting in countless reman pumps as they're failing there has to be something they're doing to fix it.

They don't do crap. They will warranty the pump and offer 150$ for labor. But to get 150 you have to do a series of test...which burns up that measly 150 and if you can read through the lines could possibly cause them not to warranty anything...I just get a new pump and, as hard as it is, eat the labor. The ford dealer I work with is pretty good and they take care of me but they're hands are tied...at the end of the day though it still makes me mad to pay a premium for parts with no labor reimbursement.

I'm talking dealerships who are installing reman pumps.

My bad, I know what you mean, I'm checking into that this week...I'll let you know. I doubt ford would eat all that labor...

I know of one guy that just had the whole fuel system replaced at a fod dealer and within a couple weeks the whole crankcase was full of diesel. I'm guessing the seal on the pump is leaking. If its happening to 10 people on this forum there have to be thousands across the nation that its happening to. So what is ford doing about it? That's what I'm wondering?

Is this something's that's been happening recently with these pumps? Maybe it's a bad batch where a new guy on a Friday was installing the seals and was doing it wrong, or they went with a new company/different seal that's not holding up

I do believe that a different company is doing the pumps now. I believe champion is now doing the pumps or they bought out seimens( I don't remember for sure) I'm guessing its a different seal design thats the problem. It sounds like all of the leaking pumps that have been coming up recently have a seal without a snap ring. Now if thats the only issue or not I don't know but I know a few guys are looking into it.
