Yeah I agree. I don't really know how to check them out though. Once again, they are indeed the same ones that came on the truck when I bought it 3 years ago.

I have ohmed the injector harness, from the IDM connector, about 2 months ago. And the all were in check.

Pull them off, take one test lead, put it on one connector tab at a time, then take your other lead, go to each injector plug, and then also check your glowplug connectors too. Iirc more than 3 ohms, its bad, maybe 4 ohms, someone should comment that remembers better than me

I'll look into that. Thanks man.

Anyone else? Bump.

Driving it tonite, it definitely has a noticeable miss at about 1500 rpms. Any more or less than that, its not really noticeable.

I may end up trying that as well. I hate to start throwing money at it, at this point.

Also, I've noticed my ICP sensor looks to be leaking oil from the connector part. I've read this is a sign of it going out. Could it cause a miss?

I actually did that earlier, and twice, literally the second I unplugged it, the truck shut off. But I read to start it back and see what happens then. I will try that tomorrow.

Where in NC are you? In outside of Jacksonville. If you are not to far I might be able to give you a hand.

In and around Greenville. I have AE. And I haven't really seen anything out of the ordinary. Other than it failing the buzz test with the IDM failure code.

I've had numerous trucks in the driveway needing work done. One of the first things I do before working on them is scanning them for codes. That way I know the truck is "clean" and doesn't have any other issues. But...I've had IDM codes come up a few times that I troubleshot for hours with everything checking out ok. My truck had it as well. Here's what made it go away! With the batteries disconnected, I cleaned the main engine harness connector on the drivers side valve cover with alcohol. I have access to 100% isopropyl at work and that's what I use. Let it sit for a minute then blew it out with air. Put some dielectric grease on the connector then hooked it up. Did the same for the plug at the IDM. Codes were gone after that! Whether it was the batteries being disconnected or dirty connectors is beyond me! But....it worked! Trucks are still running smooth to this day!

Weird, everytime ive tried it on multiple trucks, the idle will drop for a second, then pick back up

I thought the blue cps were intended for inline 6 international.diesels? Ive only seen grey, black, and dark purple from international or ford. Black were the.good ones. Grey.sucked. International.camr out with dark purple to avoid confusion.with grey.cps. Im told now that a cps from ford or international is.fine as the.shttiy grey ones from ford are gone.

Tarm(a super wealth of knowledge) said the BWD brand cps from oreilly, advance auto, etc is fine to use as it has the original.spec Hall magnets in it.

Op-the only thing I remember about a blue cps is.some dikcbeaters were selling it as a "mod" a few years ago. It wasnt designed for a v8 but an I6 so the v8s would lope and pop and kust generally run like shti. Which makes sense that two cylinders are showing codes. Because that cps is designed for two.less cylinders.
Iiiiif its the same blue POS from yesteryear.

It doesn't quite work that way. The sensor is just a magnet and the PCM is what controls the number of cylinders firing. The DT466E CPS (the one you are referring to does slightly advance the timing IIRC. That's about all it does. Not really a significant horsepower mod, but it won't make it run like sh!t unless the truck was on the verge already.

Retards the timing...hrt explained it to me and there are issues that make it not.worth using. The op clarified that is NOT what he is using so we'll drop it.
