Really!? I never heard that.

Where have you been? Lol I've heard of quite a few.

As far as building a race motor. If it is really going to be a race motor where you out racing it and pushing it to the limit then I would recommend building the whole thing. If its going to be a toy where you race it every now and then you can get away with less. But not if your going to be pushing it over 800hp often. You would be money ahead to build it right the first time.

And as for paint. Nothing but black lol. You will get the curse of the painted motor if you paint it. LOL

I gotcha matt. Mine's getting a piston and lifters right now. Hopefully holds up around 650-675 for a little while.

O-rings weren't real popular when my truck was built.. Heads are probably torqued way too far.. Like 280 ft-lbs. never had a good enough transmission to do anything spectacular on the track trapped around 105, Did 630 on the dyno.

It spent the beginning of its life as a play truck/shop advertisement, in other words decently abused.

I'm getting a little more serious with it now, just upgraded to a more up-to-date turbo setup and it'll be getting its first built trans this winter.

Hope to god I can keep this motor together lol

Looking like rods are a definite. I may have found the truck this motor will be going in, will have some more info on that tomorrow.

I am sure I won't make it to the track as much as I would like to, but that's really all this truck will be for. I doubt it will ever be on the road. What's this curse of the painted block? I can't leave this think bare cast, it looks like it came right off the production line.

I would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts for what turbo and fuel setup to run. Air to water intercooler is a definite. Nitrous will be considered but not until it is maxed out on fuel alone.

I'll sale you a long block I have if your interested. Only has 100 or so miles on it. New mahle pistons, colt stage 2 cam, valve springs and pushrods, R&R rods, freshly decked block and heads, port work in the heads, ported intake manifold can sale with or without injectors, turbo and dual hpop. It needs a hpop and ipr that should be it.

^^^^ that. Hope people will finally realize that you don't need huge a$$ firehose injectors to make power. you need a well built injector paired up with correctly sized turbo(s) and hpo to make power. hell I made plenty of power with just 255 hybrids. it sounds cool to say "i have 385's or 430's" but I have yet to see a truck (with exception of 1) with injectors that big do anything really impressive....except drain oil pressure really fast.

I also don't understand it.. If I can make 650hp on a 225.. Why do I need 430cc injectors to make 900? Unless injector builders are that far apart on how they build their injectors, which is what I suspect

Those are what's in ZMBYKLR now. Like you said they always have top notch stuff. Not sure if he's still running them, but Shawn Ellerton ran them for quite some time in his truck too.

.

That's what's in the ranger currently as well. Least expensive rods I know about. Never heard about anyone ever bending one ether

My set up is like jesse warren's but without the air to water intercooler 350/100s and s475. I haven't dynoed mine yet but he dynoed his I don't know the exact number but his results were like 920hp at the wheels. It's all in your whole set up and tuning
