If it would not start with the ICP plugged in but would with it not there is at least one major issue. If it has oil in it and still changed idle when unplugged that only means its getting SOME sort of signal not that its working correctly. I have seen way more than just one that changed idle when unplugged and still was bad and the issue. Maybe with the OEM Fords its not as much of an issue like that but with these China knock offs from the chain stores and Ebay they seem to have all sorts of weird issues when they go bad. Not to mention I have seen people go thru 3 before getting one that worked right and even then they seem to go bad way faster. When it comes to sensors and electronics on these engines save yourself trouble and grief and eat the higher price and only buy ford and IH branded products.

This is a ford oem part. Both ICP and ipr were purchased at dealer. I pulled the valve covers off this weekend to do studs and springs. Ended up with a broken injector hold down bolt, after drilling and using a fluted ez out it's out and has been replaced, once the weather gets nice ill button it back up, still waiting on IC pipes that are being powder coated. I removed all the covering off of my ICP pigtail an the wires look pretty rough, oil saturated. I will put on a new pigtail and get a new ICP sensor, if nothing else I need a spare. Should be up and running this weekend early next week. Will see if it's any better

It was still holding down somewhat, I spun it about 1/2 turn and relieved the tension from it bottoming out on the shoulder, then she poped. Wish it would've blown out, then I woulda known the bolt was broken before I got and get everything ready to install! Haha

Ran into another issue and figured i would just continue this thread. I put the injectors in and forgot the oil deflectors. I had the truck develop a tapping sounds then started white smoking very badly. I checked all the valve springs and rocker arms and such, all is okay. Just curious if the oil not being deflected down into the bottom end, if the oil could have built up in the head enough to possibly get into the intake valve area and be burnt? Possibly causing my smoke? it quit doing it now, which makes me think it isnt a bent rod, as that was what i though it was to begin with.
Thanks guys
Sean

It is possible for oil to get into the exhaust manifold during an injector swap, and that can cause the truck to smoke pretty good till it all burns out. It will not cause the truck to sound any different though. If it was fuel smoke it would smell very strong. Did you happen to catch a whiff of the smoke?
