i've been putting off deleting the dpf on my truck because i'm trying to get all sorts of stupid issues ironed out with my truck, including the remote start fiasco, now power door locks and stuff. which im just waiting for the modules for the locks to come in. all waranty work thankfully.

well today i was running up to the new dealer i've decided to go to after issues with the one in town. I've already been done very well by this new dealer. coincidently its where i bought the ranger.

but anyways. its about 37 miles there and thne another 37 back. id say maybe 10-15 miles in maybe a bit more. truck went into regen. and did a complete 30 minute or so cycle. while I'm on the highway mind you. trucks in the shop, drive the 37 miles home. drive around a bit in town later that night. on my way home.. goes into regen again.. so i drive around for 40 minutes so it goes through the whole cylce.

something seems wrong to me. but no one can tell me something is wrong. all i hear is its normal. its now pretty much every 100 miles itll regen. and today proved to be less.. two weeknds ago. i went 175 miles, half tank of fuel. 4 regens. in about two days.

any thoughts? and short of actually deleting the thing is there anything I can do? i know everyone is going to tell me to just delete it. but is there any other thoughts/options?

Well how many miles you go on her? Does the truck idle a lot? Have you checked for "soft" codes? Sounds like the DPF is really starting to get plugged up.....

86k and change on it for miles. i dont let the truck idle much at all. only briefly before shut down. as of right now I have no way to check for soft codes. my only code reader at my disposal is the handheld tuner for my ranger.. but if I get the truck up to my buddy earl's shop he has a code puller. unless thats not how you check for soft codes?

i really think the dpf is getting to that point as well. which is odd because i always let it regen, i dont drive like a grandpa at all. my father can attest to that. i don't take it on short trips. i have the ranger for that. like grocery store and such. If i take it out, I'm going someplace either on the other side of town or i'm going someplace i know i'm going to be driving. my dad does drive it sometimes but not enough to make a difference.

i really want to delete the damn thing but i have a few other things to take care first. but i don't want to destroy the truck before hand, because of the dpf not functioning properly.

I'm at 86k also with dpf intact(until Friday). In town i see regens @ 200 miles. Empty on the highway it will hit the 600 mile default regen.

mine, when it was on, seemed to regen based of boost.

if i kept it below about 24-25, it wouldnt regen, hardly ever.

towing a skidloader from illinois to kansas couple months ago, it was common to be over 25. it literally regened every 50 miles, anywhere from 10 secs to 10 mins.

i played, and kept the boost below 25 on that trip, and didnt have a regen for 200, but the first time i hit 30, it regened again.

just my .02

i went on a camping trip this weekend. put bout.. 300ish miles on the truck. regenned 3 times. and i was on the highway for some of the way. but also up some logging trails.. i averaged about 13.4 mpgs..which wasnt too bad i dont think for 4 guys and all the gear and 4 kyacks loaded. so it was about every 100 miles i would say. again.

i do tend to boost a bit.. but without a numerical boost gauge i have no idea what im putting out for boost. but it never goes past the 30 line on the stock guage.. i have no idea what to correlation between boost and regen is tho
