Regular cab, 2wd, IDP race, and the normal extras...would I be able to keep up with the sports cars?

Well, obviously not a gt500 or a Zr1 or anything, but your typical mustang and Camaro, challenger, charger etc

A real or even decent sports car....NO

Biggest advantage in this scenario would be 4wd imo so you could hook and get the jump, which you are missing.

i see your in texas, I would do it bigger since your in texas, 4wd regular cab, idp race, elite 72 atmo turbo, head studs, egr delete, intercooler piping, intake, triple disk converter, transmission if budget allows it, then you can play with sports car texas style. :eek:wned:

To answer your question you would keep up with sports cars form a roll that's about it tho trucks really need 4wd

Learning your truck and how to launch it would get you the same launch nearly as a 4wd with the reduced weight. Get some caltracs or some of the other same style bars Dustin mentioned in another thread, get your weight transfer setup, maybe give Mike Haller a call, and let it eat

False without drag radials the 400lbs you pick up from 4wd is well worth it

That depends on the power....you aren't hooking with a big power 2wd without major suspension work.

I didn't think we was talking anything much more than a tuned truck? The OP is kinda vague in his question? Idk if he is talking racing from a dig or roll or just cruising behind it on rolling hills....

Sorry I didn't clarify that. Mainly from a roll. Like cruising around town, freeway pulls etc. Out CCSB 6.4 is pretty damn fast as it is, and I was just wondering how a 2wd single cab would do out and about with the common sports cars.

I'd still bet a sports car will pull a single cab 6.4 from a roll.

what is a common sports car? if your talking about a regular mustang gt, or camaro ls. or challenger r/t. yes you would probably walk away from it. but something a little more high end like a camaro ss or corvette z06 is gonna take a little more work to walk away from even something like an audi s8 is gonna take more then a tune to pull on i would bet. something like a caddy cts v is gonna walk away if you are just tuned.

depends on the sports car, low end or high end. an audi rs6 or audi s8 will walk away, something lower end like vw gti will probably get crushed from the 6.4 even the honda civic si is considered a sports car these days. an m3 might put up a good fight if its only 3-4 years old. then the m5 or m6 would walk away from a tuned 6.4. if the 6.4 was close to 700whp if would probably have traction issues on the highway I would imagine.

Somewhere down in Texas..
If you are just tuned and deleted, you won't walk away from a new gt, or a new ss camaro, you might hang with them decently though. Something with a little more stank to it is gonna put the hurtin on ya. Hell, a pullied, tuned, full exhaust '03-'04 cobra is still a 120 trap speed car. I put the hurtin on one last night til about 100mph before he caught me lol. The street is a great equalizer, guy I know has a ccsb duramax that runs 8.0's in the 1/8th, with just efi live, exhaust, and a modded stock turbo..batmowheel, housing, etc. He is 2wd and with caltracs and stock tires he has gone 8.0 in the 1/8th and 12.7 on his only full 1/4 mile pass, but spun pretty bad. Should go 12.40's...anyhow, on the track, if he can get it to 60', he would be a good hard run for my stock motor 3v mustang gt..from a roll..we've ran from a roll..I steadily pull away as soon as we hit it.

I guess if you plan to walk a 110mph trap car on the streets from a roll, you're gonna need to trap 114ish due to the fact that most newer sports cars trap way high for given e.t.'s as they seem to be pulling harder midrange and up top. Running 12.9@103 mph isnt gonna do a lot on the streets these days.

I agree with what is posted. I doubt only a tuned and deleted would keep up with a new Camaro or Mustang much less a CTS-V or above. A V car can play with a Z06.
Just think 4000# 500 RWHP, 7000# 600 RWHP (being generous) that is a rolling brick. Be careful with the V cars. With minor mods you are over 600 to the wheels.

Kinda depends on the speed. We built a 640hp CTS V and a 580hp ZO6 corvette for a guy. 40mph and under they both just boil the tires off. If you hooked you could pull both then. But if you tried to run either above 50mph they would destroy a pickup very easily. Even his 980hp 6.4 can't keep up with either on the highway. Now if your just talking regular camaros and mustangs then yeah you got a pretty good chance.

A lot depends on the car and the gears of the truck. If it's a true sports car like a gtr, gt500 your going to have your hands full from a role those cars really just get moving around 80-90 and pull till 170+ ish it's going to be hard for any truck to keep up at them speeds.
