I'm sure you're out of warranty anyway according to cts LOL I don't know how these clowns are still in business.

i steer guys away as much as possible. id do it with duplicolor spray cans before id pay the stupid prices theyre charging for it to be done. takes less than 10 minutes per emblem to disassemble and a little bit of glue and patience to put them back together in about the same amount of time with much better quality. CTS is a joke to pay for compared to what someone can do at home with a bit of time and patience.

Automotivetouchup.com they can get you the color matches paint in an aerosol can. That's what I'll be using to do it myself.

I have ordered some touch up paint from them. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but them were real easy to deal with. I need to get a couple of spray cans for the old F150 to repaint the roof and bumper.

Has anyone done a writeup on taking the emblem apart? I am sure I could figure it out pretty easily, just like to read what others have done.

pull it off the grill and tailgate and drill out the plastic spot welds on the back with an appropriate sized drill bit. the emblems will fall apart at that point. sand the pieces individually and expect ally around the edges and corners with some 120 grip paper, adhesion promoter could help paint stick, paint with your color paint and clear but keep in mind that tolerances are tight and it does need to go back together. dry fit first and you can alter slightly with a razor blade if needed. not sure whether id recommend two heavy coats each of paint and clear, or a whole bunch of misted coats of paint then and a heavy coat of clear. that might be a better question for a body guy.

Light coats work best. I'll have to do my emblems. Seems super easy.

I haven't done the front and rear emblems but the fender emblems will come apart without messing the clips up..... or at least the did on my '15. Paint I used was from Automotive Touch Up and it matches great. I've used them several times including the paint for my headlights and every can has been perfect. Sand a bit, use some of their adhesion promoter, few light coats of primer, few light coats of body color and then a couple coats of clear.

What color black did you use on your emblems FX?

It's just matte black..... no specific paint code. Use easy off oven cleaner to strip the chrome finish off the pieces. Makes prep work a lot easier.

That's what it looked like, just checking. I've been wanting a shop to do it for a long time. I've had the PTM grill shell in my garage for a year now.. Going to order the paint and other stuff today.

Anyone have experience using the Napa matched paints? I want to do my fender badges and I'm not going through CTS again. How close yall reckon the Napa will match my gem green?

I've had good luck with the duplicolor from autozone. I know some will bitch about it but it's held up really well for me even on chrome. I have never striped the chrome off just sanded it with 80 grit and haven't had any problems with peeling in 3 years. And the color matches really well even though the paint is 20 years old.

I used the duplicolor in Arizona beige on my fender flares. 2 coats of adhesion promoter then a light coat of color and two heavy coats. Two more heavy coats around the area that will be hit by rocks and blended that coat into the rest of the flare. Then a couple heavy coats of clear. I used about 4-5 cans of color and 3-4 cans of clear total on just 4 flares. I didn't want them to chip and look like crap after 1 winter.

In my case it almost seems a little lighter than the actual color on the doors and bed. Might be because I painted them laying down on sawhorses, I've heard you should paint stuff the way it will be on the vehicle for it to match perfect, also it could be because I layered the color on so thick over the whole flare. Not sure but idc. It's better than having black flares on a white and tan truck.

Also painting plastic and metal you normally get two different colors no matter if it's sprayed with real automotive paint or rattle canned. Just look at every ford especially the white ones the grille never matches the body 100%
