There are better synthetic oils available but I know lots of people that do use it and have no problems with it..

I did, and the conventional 15-40 Rotella. I now run Shaeffers 7000 and won't switch back. Love this stuff and is priced between the shell 15-40 and the T6.

Try a search. You'll find numerous threads on Craptella.
Short answer....no.

Lots of people run T6 and have good oil analyses to back up it's quality

and Short answer to the actual question if" anyone runs it?" is yes lots of Folks

Is shaffers even API rated ?
Ford requires an oil with the API rating CI-4,

I run the T6 oil and have put 15,000 miles on it in between oil changes and have not had any trouble. Idle was still nice and smooth.

I like the T6 for winter driving. It does not like being much over 205 degrees then the engine gets a light knock. When it hits 212 it get a little louder. ONLY at a idle. The oil in the pickup should never get that hot to begin with. Should keep it @ 195 or a little lower. The 203 degree T-stat i have will be getting changed for a 192 or 185 soon. But will stick the 203 back in for the winter.

Hope this helps. T6 is a good oil. If it was bad who will a engine run it and not build up nasty sludge with over 1000,0000 miles?

Technically, you're right...plenty of people run it.
I could never pull any more than 3xxx out of a oil change with T-6 due to shear and viscosity breakdown. At that point idle was noticeably rougher and I started noticing oil consumption.
I can pull 5xxx on Schaeffers or Valvoline Premium Blue with good Blackstone reports.

First post might have been a little brief...fat fingers and a touch screen phone

You put 15,000 miles...on T-6...in a 7.3?

Yes Sir... Was not by my choice though. Its the company pickup and they sometimes just dont change when it should be. Most oil changes finely happen at 10k miles. should be less But it keeps right on going no problem. Does not seem to burn any. well maybe a two quarts in 10k miles But the the engine is around 230,000 miles now. They used to run the T4 in it and did the same thing. let it run to 10k before changing it.

Some engines just run better then others with the same thing. Not sure whay but they do.

My 6.0 is way harder on oil than a 7.3 specially shear
and at 5k Blacstone was recommending it was ok to go longer

but I never go more than the severe interval of 5k vs 7500

Strange how different trucks prefer different oils.
We use T-6 in all of our trucks and equipment at work, with no ill effects. Just seems like my truck (and quite a few other 7.3's that I know of) don't like it.

It is strange. The last two 7.3s I had were never happy with rotella. I'm afraid to spend all that money on it again.

Run T6 in my 6.4, never had an issue. Also ran it in my 6.0. Started off running regular old rotella and then some Delo and decided to go synthetic and it makes a huge difference

I just started running T-6. It has a much better idle when cold and zero noticeable difference when warm. My truck has always ran oil temps between about 25 and 210 with the 195* thermostat. Even prior to the T-6. It definitely isn't any louder when warm, in fact I would say it is quiter the warmer it gets. (Never been above normal operating temp though).

Over the years in my truck I have used Rotella T 15w50 conventional oil almost religiously with a 5k miles oil change interval. I did have one oil analysis at 7600 miles on the conventional Rotella and Blackstone recommended running the next oil to 8200 (iirc, either way at 7600 miles they recommended going a bit longer) as everything still looked good and check it then. I never went that long because I just wasn't comfortable running to it's limits and would rather change it with a little bit of life left. I have no oil analysis for the T-6 OR the Valvoline Premium Blue that I ran for two oil changes. The Valvoline ran like crap. It was loud and didn't run as smooth. MIGHT have been my imagination, but other friends with 7.3's that were familiar with my truck agreed.

Overall I am happy with the T-6. The reason I decided to give it a shot was a combination of postings on here and there was a report on Bobistheoilguy (I think that was where I saw it) that compared a whole bunch of different oils and since they reformulated the conventional Rotella T and it dropped down in quality for the older motors the T-6 was near the top of the list in additives, quality and performance in analysis. Personally.....It's probably all smoke and mirrors and just about any standard oil will do the trick if changed in a reasonable time frame regularly, but Rotella T and T-6 give me good piece of mind and do the trip. Your mileage may vary.
