Running Board Options

I took my factory running boards off the other day to change up the look of my truck a little because I didn't like how low they were. So far, I definitely like the new, higher look. My issue is, sooner or later I'm going to have to do something for a step. My girlfriend is not going to appreciate climbing in and out without a step.

So, my options are:

1. Put stock running boards back on. Possibly drill new holes to tuck them higher up.

2. Get amp steps. Don't really feel like shelling out that kind of money now, but who knows. I might find a good deal.

3. Get running boards that sit closer to the cab. I like the look of the N-fabs or the Go Rhino Dominator II. I would go with stainless if I went this route.

Any thoughts or opinions on these? Anyone have pictures or reviews of the n-fabs or dominator II's.?

I hate my low hanging factory steps. I have seen them tucked up close to the cab and they look a ton better. I say try that first and see how it looks.

AMPS are hands down one of the greatest mods you can do to a truck.

The N-Fabs look great, they also have a new style that looks pretty good.

Im a dealer for all of them and can help you get a great deal.

I've heard from so many people how great amps are. I'm really tempted. Maybe later this year after I get done messing around with my engine.

What's the new style N-fab?

Ok. I did see those on their website.

Do notice a quality difference between the n-fabs and go rhino?

I am one of the few people that likes the factory running boards, but on my grandpas F-150 they didn't go low enough for my short grandma to get in so we got them a set of AMP steps, and they are some of the best aftermarket products I have ever installed. They are built great, the wiring even matched the colors on the truck and came with really good tap connectors and great instructions. There is a reason they cost as much as they do, and they are worth it.

I had go rhino on my old truck and i have nfab waiting to go on this truck. Id have to say, id probably buy go rhino again. Their mounts were a lot beefier, and the ends also had plastic caps that went in so nothing could enter. These bars seem tough but the mounts arent as big, and the ends of the bars are open to the elements. Going to try to make a cap out of something..

AMP steps are great. I'm like you and don't like the look of steps so to have them hidden when not in use is great. More importantly, when they come out for use they come down quite a bit and are very stable. My wife is 5'1" and has no problem getting in our lifted truck.

I was like you and didn't want to shell out the cash for AMP steps, but I don't like the look of any steps on my truck. So I finally found a used set and bought them. I still paid $900, but I can tell you after having them on my truck that this is by far the best option out there. AMP is the only way to go IMO and definitely worth the price that they cost new. I'm very impressed with them.

The AMPs are worth the money hands down. I had them on my previous lifted truck and intend to get them for this truck as well.

They drop down farther than most steps making a nice go between from the ground into the cab. I think the steps that tuck up under the rocker panels look good but functionally are pretty useless. You make a big step to get to the rocker panel then a little baby step into the cab. Plus I just like the cleanness of no step.

I know some steps get really slippery when wet, but the AMPs have a no-skid coating that makes them a solid step even when wet. It's a nice wide step too.

Go AMP and you won't regret it.

Well I think you guys have me convinced. Time to start saving for some amps. I don't really like the look of any step I look at and everyone on here raves about the amps. Can't wait for my tax refund!

Just keep an eye out for a used set. You can get them for a pretty good price sometimes.

I've got nfab on my truck...I've been very happy with them, feel they look good and get the job done...now at the time money was tight and I wanted something other then the factory steps....the price is wat sold me on nfab, now I wish I would have waited longer and got the amp steps..I really like the look of the clean no step look

I love factory late model chrome package steps

If you want something that tucks higher, you could go with some harley style steps

Only aftermarkets worth running are AMP style power steps.

The tubular steel steps look cheap and home made to me
