Runs good, sputters then shuts off. IDM issue?

Well i tried the truck today, made sure the ucvh was tight, (still the old one till i can get the new one) cleaned the idm harness and all the sudden the truck started up and ran fine. I got it home and it ran fine. So il be putting a new uvch on where the old one broke. So i dont know for sure what the problem was but for now it seems to be fine.

How many of you guys run around with a quarter under the covers? And did you do it as preventive measure or a fix and left it?

Well i had to replace the whole harness because i broke the clip on mine but yes many people do that to prevent the issue from happening.

What I'm getting at I guess is should this be done or only do it when needed then replace harness? And if the clip broke like yours what would happen to the quarter in the valve cover?

Its not a bad thing to do because it will prevent the uvch from coming loose and when the quarter is put in, the clip cant snap, It only snapped because i pulled on it.
