Already let me start by saying that I have been reading for the last week on this site. I am about to pull the trigger on a 97 rclb 2wd auto that has been sitting in my neighbors yard for a few years. Price is under $1k. Needs a steering column rebuild and a new alternator. I've started it up with him twice now sounds fine and I can't see any leaks. Just to be safe I will be having a diesel mechanic give it a once over before money changes hands. Plans are to cut the frame and put a flare side bed on it. It will be a dd and I can't bring myself to lift a 2wd so it will stay stockish height or a little lower. I have planned my upgrades in stages to get it where I'd like. If you guys have any recommendations lemme know I'll give them some thought.
1- Gauges, hutch/harpoon, 6637, exhaust
2- Martys fuel system with rr, adrenaline hoop, will add fuel and hop gauges in cab at this time.
3- BTS( will go out about halfway through this next trip to afganistan so it'll be ready when I'm back)
4- Irate s366 kit and sd ic
5- Injectors- leaning towards a good 238/100 or bigger. I'm a looking to run a single stage nitrous shot (100ish) so I know I will need some extra fuel for it to have something to burn. From everything I've read the s366 will clean up 238/80s so I will need something bigger. If anyone has run a similar setup please lemme know what worked for you or post a link. Googlefu has returned nothing so far. Goal is 500-550 fuel only and 600-650 at the track with the funny juice.

I'm not an expert, lol.
Probably a little bigger injector-238-250/200 injector, good live tuning, and no spray, will do everything you want.
468 seems to be the turbo of choice in that fuel range, or 4294 garret. Probably won't get you 650 on a race tune, but close. Close attention to tuning will keep it happy. Could go to a 300/200, do it all.
Did I mention live tuning?
Thats the big stuff. Probably need a little more hpo to do it that way.
Sounds like your headed in the right direction, but it takes a lot of patience and attention to detail to keep everything happy at those power levels.
Easily doable, if you deal with someone who understands the platform, not cheap, but a lot of guys have done it.

You just don't always hear about the hiccups and "dam I wish I'd done that differently" parts.

468 with 200% nozzle hybrids and then all of the supporting mods mentioned above including SD/Duel SD pumps. Basically what psduser1 suggested. Defintily live tuning and some big meats on the rear of that truck as it will probably be able to do rolling burnouts after that. I would love to be able to buy an OBS regardless of 2wd/4wd and cab configuration for under 1 grand that runs. Good find.

Btw, what branch of service are you in?

I actually had a long conversation with matt at irate about the setup and he was nudging me towards a 468 too. Alright people I get the clue! 468 itll be! Now I need a way to my wife im spending another $500 on injectors and $800 on the turbo.. thoughts?.. Anyone? (Gulp)

Ja_cain- Im active duty army. Taking my old squad leaders advice when he said "The best place to be stationed in the Army is an Air Force base. "

Ahh one of those 101st NOTairborne guys? Lol
HAHA! My nephew was in Iraq with the 101st back in '05.

Your power goals are doable ( that's about where I am right now. I'm running 250/100's since losing a nozzle on the 400/200's ) but be aware that there tend to be all kinds of bugs to work out. Adding power tends to magnify issues.
I'd consider a modded H2E turbo , Brute 66(1,15 exhaust housing) or 38R with a WW2 and also consider a bigger HPOP for that power level. I'm sure how big of an injector an Adrenaline can fully support. That might be a weak link.

Make sure you get the truck live tuned so you don't accidentally add the 7.3 window mod.

You're also going to need to add valve springs and head studs to your list of things to add. I didn't see those mentioned.

Ahhh yes I forgot to add those. The were on my written list here at the house but I must have skip that line when typing it up. I'm looking at the $900 package deal for all 3 from irate. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the power to the ground once its there. I read through vanders builds (yes all 120 pages of both threads and it looks like he never quite got everything figured out suspension wise either. There is a blue flare side built by the guy at Unlimited maybe? I know I saw him post a bit and they did a writeup in dieselpower bout it but I don't think they mentioned how his rear suspension was setup. Hp and tq are great but burning rubber loses races and money real quick. Gotta get it to the ground and take care of those pesky gt's and ss' every private with a re-up bonus buys around here (don't get me started on the coffee can rice rockets). $15k motor and trans in a $1k pickup…. Should make for some booboo faces real quick!

On another note is there any reputable tuners in the ft walton beach/ crestview/ pensacola area? I'm half tempted to take it to swamps in la vergne. My inlaws live 15 minutes away in smyrna and it'll score me brownie points with the wife to volunteer for a trip to see em.

What would be a good hpop for 300/200s if I were detuning them for a s366? Could I get by with a t500 until I saved for a better unit? I'm leaning towards going big on injectors now and running a s366 until I can get everything else needed for a setup with that much power sorted out.

Sounds like a win-win. If you do make the trip, they have a pretty sweet 2wd OBS that held sleeper status for many years making power levels similar to what you're looking for. It morphed into a dedicated drag truck and IIRC was pushing 1000hp on nitrous last year. I love seeing that thing go down the track! Might give you some ideas...

I personally think an srp setup would work for a guy, if he's will to keep an eye on it. For all out, a big oil setup-twin pumps-is going to be top of the line. Bts, terminatator, swamps all sell a big oil setup. Or build your own with a haldex, although those apparently have their quirks, as well. A stockish pump will run 300s, you just won't get full potential power.

If you detuning for a 366, a stock hpop will be fine.

I wouldn't run an SRP on a HEUI lawnmower.
