Schaffers 722 for 2017 6.7powerstroke

Schaffers 722 and 711 is on the recommended list but I found next to no info from people running it in there 6.7’s. Most people are running schaffers 9000. Looking for feedback on the 722. Run it? Run something else? All that’s been in the truck is motorcraft 10w-30 and looking to switch. 2017 F350 KR dually on weight loss.

Schaeffer 9000 5w-40 full syn. Ford spec is 10w-30 or 5w-40 for heavy use. Might as well use the best

I used it during the first 15k miles on my 19. I had no problems with it. Grossing 42k several times and no issues. Since then I switched to 5w40 or 15w40 to match the rest of my trucks and equipment so I didn’t have to buy different weights. I liked it.

Diesel 625 thanks for the reply. Your as of now the only person that has given me any feedback from actually using it. Kinda has me skeptical to run it with so little feedback. But I’m going to give it a shot. It’s on the list and the analysis report will help as well. Thanks bra

I know the sled pulling community likes Schaffer’s really well, I haven’t anywhere local to purchase it but I wouldn’t foresee any issues. I honestly believe many times more thougt and worry is expended on oil than is necessary. My wife’s jetta tdi is lucky to get its oil changed every 80k miles, basically once a year, it has as of today 508k miles on it. That particular engine is known for wearing out camshafts, we’ve owned since 50k and always run T6 in it. Car won’t die, just plugs along at 60 mpg.

Racer71 i definitely agree about more worry then what it really is. I think what really messes me up is when I get parts at the ford counter and ask them for a oil service kit and they pull 5w-40 and say this is what’s recommended but I look at the service receiot on my work truck and the tech put in 15w-40 so I ask the guy at the counter and he’s like oh I dunno why they did that. Hahaha I just go on about my way and notice nothing different with the 15w-40 in my work 6.7 and the 10w-30 in my personal 6.7. Both 17 models. Ones a 550 and the other is a 350. Same dam truck just different tune.

Problem is that 15w-40 isn’t even a recommended oil option for the 6.7…..

I know more people that run 15w40 In their 6.7s than any other weight. It’s recommended for b20 blends or severe duty.

Isn’t the only difference between 5w-40 and 15w-40 the cold start protection? At operating temp they are both the same?

5w40 is full synthetic, and the 15w40 is a blend. They have different additive packages, but at operating temp they’re both 40wt oils.
